Most of the trolling done with dipsey divers dragging spoons and harnesses, downriggers are used and produce fish on occassion. A salmon is a rare catch in Erie waters but steelhead are common. Hasn't been much going on yet most likely due to the cooler weather. The last few years have been good at this time but things should start to happen shortly. The bite will most likely start west of you towards the Ohio/PA line.

Thanx, Bridge!
Hey, what is the difference between fishing with downriggers and dipsey's? I always used downriggers- seems like better to controll depth... Different action?

The water on erie has got a lot clearer over the years from the zebra mussels, the dipsy divers plane out away from the boat and get to the depths the eyes are feeding. I've caught many down 60' in 70' of water, they go deep as the sun rises.

Hey born, make sure you get a deep diving crawfish crankbait and work the rocks right outside the pass. It's been a few years, but I used to slam the smallies and an occasional steelhead by banging the crankbaits into the rocks on the retrieve or trolling with the lure hitting the bottom regularly.

Eat me one of those sara hot dogs.

Oh yeah, stop under one of the creeks and catch some chubs about 6-8 inches long and throw him out under a bobber or just freelineing around some of the weedbeds in 10 feet of water and you're going to get some great pike or if you're lucky muskie action.

Have fun, it's a great park.

Thanx, BIG! I've heard about crawfish, but never tried. Any colors? If I were to troll them, what speed?
BTW I got mini Dipsy, will try this week in RoundValley. Any tricks using them? As I said, I did downriggers, but never dipsy...
Thanx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
