Default Lake Erie Huron Dumping grounds report Friday........

Got out before the storm and experienced my best day in 8 years. Trolled Reef Runners and ripstics at 1.4-1.8 mph. Best colors were eriedesent, bare naked and the reef runners were run from 45-110 back off inline boards.

A ripstick at 70-80 back picked two of the 20 eyes but one was 28.5in and 10lbs. The graph was unbelieveable with bait and hooks from the surface down to about 30 feet and the fish were footballs.

It was nice cruising out and in at 30-35mph in calm seas. The run from west harbor to the fish was about 19-20mi. and I loved every minute of it. It rained intermittently all day and the fish seemed to bite much better when it wasn't raining. Late in the day Eriedescent 110 back was on fire!. Boat traffic was never a problem as we were away from the pack all day. Basically we worked a n-s troll in about 40-42 f t of water all day in the scattered 1mil school of bait and fish.

End result was about 20 fish, all between 5-10lbs. The biggest 6 went 2 at 10lbs., 1 at 9lbs, 2 at 8 lbs. and one seven.

I only got to fish for about 6 hours with only 4 lines but the action was steady. I only got one big sheephead all day. PM me if you want specifics re: gps coordinates.

All fish were released unharmed an swam away swiftly after the pictures. I'll try to post pics.

I finally got what I consider to be an excellent day of Walleye fishing. I've payed my dues and it feels good to finally get a day like I had at 29-29 about 6-8 years ago were everyything was BIG!

I did reach the magic 30in. mark with the big one. Thanks Mother Erie for a great day!

I'll try and post some pics when I get back from Pt. Clinton. I'm at the Ida Rupp public librarya and it's Sat.

Great Catch! The area of the dumping grounds and to the West from there in as shallow as about 26 feet has been pretty incredible this past week. Congrats on breaking the 30" barrier - that is a true trophy walleye.

Good job on the catch. Those are some nice fish.

I drove along the back way to Cedar Point on Sunday. It looked like Pooh Bear may have been out there but I didn't see any other boats. Had to be cold out there.

A buddy went perching near Kelly's on friday and said the walleye marks were thick by them. He was able to get one nice walleye on a big shiner while perching.

Have a nice winter.

Huron dumping grounds---last trip of the year 11-14-08

I wanted to get the boat out of the water considering the 7 day forecast I didn't want the boat to get frozen in the harbor. So I snuck in one last trip to Huron. There were a lot of fish there but mostly 2003's. I landed about 15 fish in 5 hours with most being 2-3lbs and one that went maybe 6lbs. Ive been fishing in 38-40 feet the last 2 trips straigh out of Huron. The fishfinder showed a LOT less bait and Hooks than the last trip when I scored big. So, I think that the big fish school is elsewhere or the bait and the big fish moved like they always do.

A good trip but the size wasnt there. The lake cooperated.

Fish were mostly up high for me and a bubblegum ripstick 80 back took about 5 fish. The rest were on Reef Runners 45 back. I started with 2 deep lines and after all the other shallow lines hooked up I moved everything to that sub 20ft. range.

Good luck and be safe to those who are getting out again.
