Default Projects for next years season.

Well, now that '08 is closing down, what kind of upgrades, repairs, replacements, resolutions are you guys making?

For me,
1. Get the boat in the water earlier. I wasn't in until July almost.
2. News hoses- everywhere.
3. Flo-scan or similar installed.
4. Remove the loran from the boat and upgrade stereo w/Sirius in its place.
5. Learn how to use down riggers better.
6. New brakes and tires on trailer.
7. Replace the Whaler with an Edgwater 14.
8. Be more selective of the beer I drink....
9. Try smoking walleye and or perch in the smoker (I know, its not oily enough, but it may be good as an appetizer or entree)
10. introduce more people to erie walleye and perch fishing!

Default RE: Projects for next years season.

Get in the water earlier. Did a deck and gunnel paint job this year.

In the process of installing:

Big Jon Pro Silver electric downriggers on Traxtech swivel mounts with quick slides on Bert's track. Have to beef up the handrail supports and thru bolt.

Flojet water pump to replace old "sewing machine" pump

Got but not installed:

Sea-Fire halon automatic fire suppression, Raymarine Sirius weather receiver, upgrade the sound insulation for engine compartment.

Want to do in the future:

replace fuel level indicator on top of tank with a sensor and guage, get a 4 cycle kicker motor, catch some fish

Learn how to use the new stuff.

Have fun!

My biggest resolution for next year is to fish more. I think I only made it out about 10 times this year. Mainly because my two Son's and their involvement in sports. Both play spring in house ball, traveling tournament ball, football or fall baseball. That won't change for next year so my resolution's already doomed. Sometimes makes he wonder if I should just sell my boat for now, then buy another one when the kids are all done with their sports playing years. . . . Naaaah.

Another thing I'm doing for next year is to keep the boat at Geneva-on-the-lake, Ohio for July and August. We (my family) used to really enjoy going there. Been away from there since 2002 (the last year I had my Proline) and haven't been back til this past August. Forgot how much fun we had there.

Brad, have you ever tried the walleye fishing in the Allegheny around the Harmarville launch? I ran into a couple of guys who had their limit a couple of weeks ago. They were just trolling Rapalas along the south shore up towards the dam. Nice fish. Don't know if I'd eat them, but they were some pretty nice fish!

I used to fish below lock #3 all the time, but it's been a while since I've been down there. I've caught some eyes and decent smallies down there. I used to troll rapalas just below the dam (as close as I could get without going inside the bouys). I have a 16 ft starcraft that I haven't had on the water for the last couple years. As soon as I can get that boat ready to get back on the water (afraid I might be facing a carb rebuild), I want to drag it down the river. I can be at the Harmarville ramp in about 20 minutes from my house. I lost interest in fishing the rivers because it gets real slow down there (for me anyway) in the summer and Erie is so good. Not to mention alot of crazies down there in a confined area. But fishing the rivers in the fall is fun. I wouldn't eat anything out of the rivers near town, but I used to keep the eyes I'd catch up North at Emlenton or Kenerdel. I used to love fishing those waters.

Refinishing bridge deck - 3/4 done Replacing all gauges, switches and panels also make new wiring harness for a cleaner install. I have all wiring disconnected, switches and panel are out. Have panels at the custom fabricator as we speak. Replacing spreader lights for the cockpit. Adding a wash down pump in the cockpit. Upgrading electronics.

Got to do some teak work and install a kicker, but I'm sure its going to be a lot nicer than fishing out of my 18' starcraft

Looks good. Saw it on the FishErie site. What size kicker you looking for?

Replace the stator on my Mercury 150, failed on the last trip of the season.

Bridgeman, nice rig, where do you launch from? I'm thinking of upgrading from my galvanized trailer(single axle) to a aluminum tandem, for better handling.

Most of the time out of Ashtabula but I'm thinking about Geneva with the bigger boat, the water is a little too shallow at lakefront ramp at bula.
