Default Erieau Canada Steelhead and King

I've been limiting just about every run over there. Thought you might enjoy some of the pictures. These came from the 4th weekend.

I fished earlier in the year in front of the point, but as of late have been making the 11 mile run west to the windmills. Actually did best in front of the red barn with the green roof just east of the windmills by about a mile. Stayed in 57-52 FOW, and caught fish on main downriggers, stacked lines, and off jet divers run off the boards. One trip Burnt Pumpkin Pie was hot (silver/orange with black ends), and last time Purple seemed to be the ticket. Most fish came high within the top 30 feet. I tend to run on the fast side to keep the sheepshead and walleye off...3-4 mph.

Hope you do well.

If you'd like numbers to the area, don't hesitate. They can swim an awful long ways overnight though....like perch, here today gone tomorrow.

I fish the same area off the windmills and red barn, but I put in at Wheatley. It is a shorter run to that area from Wheatley. Besides I live in Leamington ,so Wheatley is closer for me. When I leave the Wheatley harbour, I run east for about 5-6 miles. We fished there yesterday (Wednesday) in 58' to 62' of water which puts you about 4 miles offshore of the windmills. We boated 7 (out of 12) nice "bows" and one walleye. I have found anything copper colour works. The smaller spoons seem to working better right now , the size 28 or the small "Silver Streak" from Wolverine Tackle. You can buy them at the Erieau Marina Store("Barney's Boats " I think its called). Also, they are up high in the water column at this time anywhere from 10' to 30'. Had the downriggers and dipseys set around 20' - 25'. The dipseys caught more fish than the riggers (but not much more). We are also catching them straight out from Wheatley and even west of Wheatley towards Point Pelee. But, this early in the season, the best action is still east of Wheatley. Hope you catch your limit and have fun. If you have a radio, tune it to channel 6 and you should hear some fishing reports while you are out there, but take what you hear with a grain of salt most fishermen like to exaggerate their numbers slightly. Also, go to the Erieau Marina's website for a fishing report (www.erieaumarina.com).

Hi Paul: I rented a slip for the season at Erieau Marina about 6 weeks ago. I had to have an operation and the boat was left in the water for a about 3 weeks not being used. Bottom was green, green and more green. Took it out, brought it home and cleaned it up. I was suppose to go fishing today but my buddy had to cancel, so heading down tomorrow. Should be at Erieau for the next 2 to 3 weeks and then heading down to Oakville and fish the Great Salmon Hunt. Kind of wasted the money on the slip for the season. I appreciate the heads up on the fishing info. I have never fished out of Wheatley, but last year fished out of Leamington with great success. Talk to you later. Dwain in London
