Default Captain to Take a boat from Lake Erie to Lake Michigan

I am thinking about moving my sportfish from Lake Erie to Lake Michigan and am looking for someone with a captains license and experience on a trip like that to potentially accompany me in late June or Early July. Any reccomendations?

No need for a captain.............unless it's a time issue. Made the trip several times over the past 10-15 years. where in Lake Michigan are you headed? lake erie to Port huron 1/2 day, with decent weather you can make the straits in 10hrs, with a sunup start it will still leave you a few hours of daylight to run the straits and a good 50 miles down lake Mich. It's a long day but if you love the water it is a great trip. Prevailing west winds make for a good run up lake Huron, and calming late day winds make the run through straits an the downbound run in Lake Mich enjoyable. Good luck

Call Captain TJ Gerth. TJ has a lot of experience and we have used his services several times to move boats around the Great Lakes. This spring he moved a 33 Rampage with tower from Huron, OH to St. Joe, MI for one of our customers. Call TJ at 772-285-6469 ( that is is cell phone and I think a FL area code where he spends winters.) Tell him that Steve at South Shore Marine referred you. He will do a very nice job for you.

Thanks for the number Steve I will give him a call. I know Tom Mack over at South Shore fairly well. He almost sold me a 38' rampage a couple of times before I decided on my Carolina style boat because I wanted IPS drives.

Captain TJ isn't available until the end of July does anyone else have any recomendations? I am available to go with them, I just don't want to do the whole trip by myself.

As previous post, it is a great trip if you have a couple of days, Here is the name of a captain, He is in detroit area and I know he is transiting a boat to Charlevoix this weekend, His name is Vince Locicero phone 586 777 0400. If you contact him tell him you got info from Bruce, and Curt. Good luck!

Yeah I decided to just do the trip myself. I am a little nervous about the Detroit River and Lake St Claire area, because I have never been on through there but other than that I am looking forward to it. The plan is:
Day 1: Put-in-Bay to Lexington MI
Day 2: Lexington to East Tawas
Day 3: East Tawas to Mackinac
Day 4: Mackinac to Frankfort
Day 5: Frankfort to White Lake
Day 6: White Lake to Chicago
I know I could do it in about half that time but I want to take some time in these areas and enjoy them.
