Default Lake Erie walleye report 4/18/08

Seven of us fished NE of Mouse Island off of Catawba and caught 28 walleye in 3 hours. Almost dead calm. Caught all of them on 5/8OZ purple jigs with stinger hooks but NO minnows. All of the fish were between 3 - 5LBS, no monsters but all good sized fish. They were all males and they made a mess milking all over the boat when you got them in.

Caught 5 on Tuesday over the reefs in muddy water and heard they were getting them in closer to shore in about ten feet of water

I have been in the Florida Keys for a week so I don't know what is going on in the Lake. I will find out in the next couple of days and let you know.

Last week the area NE of Mouse Island was hot, a reef called Scott's Point. Several of my friends have been fishing that area with great success but I haven't talked to them at all this week.

This time of year it's usually better to fish harnesses off of the west side of Kelleys Island in deeper water. There is some 30'+ water towards the northwest side of the island that can produce great numbers.
