Default Anyone Brown trout fishing Lake Ontario?

I have a trip planned on my boat for May 23 to go to Lake
Ontario near Mexico. My quiestion is how will it be the third week of May for Brown's? Last year I went May 2nd and did good but my friend say's the fishing wont be as good the third week of May.

Am I planning a wasted trip?

Well, you may or may not be planning a wasted trip.Hell, why not go to the western end of the lake at that time.
Fishing for salmon at that time, out of the ports of Point Breeze,Olcott,Wilson, and the Niagara bar is usually very good.
I fish Olcott every year the first and last weeks of may,and the fishing is great.Last year from may 21 to 26 was phenomenal.
We had one day with 30+ kings on,and boated twenty five of them, all in the mid to high teens, and one slob at 27 lbs. Big for a spring fish.
As for Mexico,we used to fish it every spring, and had some very good late may Brown trout trips. It depends on the weather, but you should be able to do ok.check out www.lakeontariounited.com there's a lot of good info, and helpful guys on that site.

You should be fine with those dates. In the am if you are out real early in close will be good, esp. if we have dirty water. After sunup move out into the deeper water, 25-50 foot area. right now the water is real clear, seeing bottom in 20-30', so light line, long leaders and the use of florocarbon a must, right now. I have my boat docked in Mexico, so I will be posting reports here, now that it is in the water. Good Luck.
