Default Which boat insurance brokers in Ontario?

Just wondering which boat insurance companies you deal with or which ones to stay away from. My insurance is coming up from renewal so I thought I would check around. Thanks. Dwain

I would go on a quote hunt if I were you, it can only help you get a policy, plus if you've been accident free you might be eligible for a discount. You can also play underwriters off each other and get them to compete for you by lowering their rates.
I'm working with United Marine Underwriters, and there are one of the oldest underwriters around so definitely get a quote from them. But get at least 5 quotes so you have something to compare with it besides you're existing policy.

Willcmars: Starting my research online and waiting for the quotes to come in. I will try United Marine. Thanks. Dwain
Tried United, but they are U.S. based and do not insure Canada.

Dwain,

While I am sure you have your answer by now, I use Deerborne out of T.O.

The guy I originally had was very knowledgeable. The girl I have now, not so much.

I got the coverage I wanted though, at a pretty good rate.

If you need a number for next season, shoot me a PM and I will forward it along.

Cheers,

Randy.

Hi Randy: I use Deerborne as well. The first year the gentlemen gave me insurance without a deductible, now he has left. The girl looking after things quoted me a new price but now I have a 1% deductible. Kind of strange. I did hear to stay away from Premier. Dwain

Hi Dwain,

Since you are renewing your insurance, you might also want to check policydog.com, because you can get an instant quote on the website and compare prices. They also provide insurance for boats that are outside the States. They are also friendly and provide good service, and if you want you can buy boat insurance online any time of day.
