Default Depth- fish finder- big water ??

Could anybody give some advise on the best fish finder to use on lake michigan, i have a lowrance and it doesnt seem to show where the thermal is in the water table. i know the charter boats all use big color graphs that will find the thermal , can anybody give me some names of graphs that you know work good on the big water ..... Thanks

Furuno 620 or 585 are great.

We run the Furuno 585 (8" screen) and are very happy with it.

My Ray C120 with DSM is AMAZING both trolling and bottom fishing. I would expect the smaller models with the same sounder module work equally well

Which Lowrance do you have? Granted, I'd much rather have a color DF model, but even my X125 picks up the thermalcline as does my buddies LMS 332c. Are you sure you have the sensitivity and all the other settings right? If you've got the sensitivity on "auto", that could be your problem.
