Default Put In Bay 4th O' July

Anyone know if you can "reserve" dockage at PIB around the 4th for 1, 2, or 3 days at a time? I went there last year and turned right around due to no dockage (other than the "wall" which will destroy shiny rubrails). Actually went right from there to Kelleys and same problem.

Yes you can make reservations. For the BIG weekends - Memorial Day, 4th of July, Christmas in July, Labor Day you will likely need to stay at least two nights to get a reservation. You can call the Municipal dock and also Foxes Dock . A google search will get you the phone numbers but probably nobody there to answer calls until sometime in April. At Kelly's Island the places to stay are Portside and Seaway.

nice eye's. I was afraid they might require a week stay during the 4th. I can swing 2 or 3 days even if i dont use it due to weather or whatever. Just like to know there is a dock when I get there.

You need to book WAYYYY ahead of time and don't figure on getting your boat out if you are close to the dock. No one is going to move a bunch of rafted boats just so you can leave. I learned this from experience.

Was there with the family for the July 4th weekend back in '96. We rafted up alongside maybe 3 to 4 boats that were already rafted up (the least we could find). Spent the better part of the day on the island. When we came back to the boat, there was another 3 to 4 boats rafted up to the outside of us.

LOL, since that trip, I have never been able to bring myself togo away anywhere on the July 4th weekend.

You might also want to try the state park marina on middle bass, real nice facility and you can take the ferry over to put-in-bay and you can get your boat out anytime you want to. there is also alot less noise at night. I really enjoyed having my own slip for the weekend, makes for alot less hassle.

I heard that the marina on Middle Bass was going to be closed for the 2008 season for major renovations.

The state marina on middle bass looked pretty nice as it was, I cant wait to see what they have planned for it. I would imagine they are trying to get more slips crammed in there.

You could also try a mooring ball in the bay and the water taxi can shuttle you to the island for a few bucks. I feel like my boat is more secure on the balls because no one is climbing over it to get their boat and I don't have to worry about someone adjusting my ropes.

Yea, thats just it, I'm not a rookie but to this day im still skiddish about rafting up for all the reasons mentioned above. I dont mind the Mooring ball/taxi thing but I dont know if you can reserve one (they were all full last time). I guess I'll call today. Live in SC now, but usually come up for a week or so-docking at Fox Haven.
