creekwood- late next spring, my wife and I have to go to new jersey. My wife has never been to canada, so we would like to come back to the midwest by traveling the north side of the lakes. Won't be a fishing trip, but we would like to scout some locations for when we do have an opportunity to do some fishing, Any recommendations for the north side of lake ontario?

Port Darlington, 40 miles or so east of Toronto, at Bowmanville, is INCREDIBLE in July. The pic of 3 guys in my post above is my team from the 2005 Scotty Tournament there where we took second place, lost by 3 points. Your box was 5 fish per day, and you had to be north of 100 lbs per day to be in it. The first day of that tounament we had something like 30 hookups. we were culling by 7:30 AM. We quit at noon on the practice day cuz we were worn out.

Hi Pete, it is getting closer to blue water season. How are things? How was the new ride last season? Hope everything is well.

Hi Rich,

We are super pleased with the new Steiger Craft. I love fishing all day putting on 50 miles or so, and only burning 13 gallons! Also, the freedom to go wherever we want was a real joy. Got back to fishing Erie some after being away from it for 6 years or so.

Are you coming to the LOTSA Salmon Expo on Feb 24th? The lineup for this (exhibitors and seminars) is really good. Best 10 bucks you will spend all year. Details are here:

The west end of Lake 0 is good for salmon all summer but not much else. Anywhere in the lake really and if you follow where you see other boats fishing you are good to go. The later in the summer the more they move towards the river mouths (larger Rivers). The salmon are big and powerful (usually range 18 to 30 lbs with the rarer one over 30). Trolling with downriggers or dipsey divers with spoons (or flasher/cut herring) are the most common.

The east end around Bay of Quinte is really good for fishing Walleye, Pike, Muskie bass, you name it. The same for the thousand Islands area where the Lake turns into the St. Lawrence River.

Reading your post again, it sounds like you are driving on the roads and scouting, not boating. Lots of good fishing in Ontario but its a huge province. Too many to really list. I would suggest that you look for some of the other fishing related forums catering to Ontario for some ideas. Another one I am a member of is ofncommunity.com Good bunch of people and pretty welcoming to newcomers on their forum.
