Default Swing away tounge

Hello,

I was curious if anyone has experience with swing away tongues for their trailers? I am looking to add this to my Load rite 21 ft trailer. The instructions on the manufactures web site (pivithitch.com) call for cutting the tongue off and installing this product then reattaching the tongue.

Any thoughts

thanks

My EZ loader trailer came with the swing tongue. Kits can be bought and installed afterwards, but i don't know how good the aftermarket kits are. I can tell you that my swing is great and now looking for a house with a deep garage so i can keep the boat inside! No more pulling gear and electronics out after each trip, just stow and go!

Swing tongues are common, but let the manufacturer do it.

I had a galvanized trailer for my sea ray and it had a swing away tongue, it was great. I now have a 17'6" Sea Hunt and went with the aluminum trailer and they put on a removable tongue and it also works great. It's not as easy as the swing away, but I really wanted the aluminum trailer. I would also second let the manufacturer do this.

If you only need to reduce the trailer length by about a foot, Fulton makes a bolt on swing-away coupler (not for brakes). These are available at Easternmarine.com
