Effects of reduced water flow and increased inorganic nitrates as well as yard runoff. At least the yards have beautiful St Augustine grass eh?

I remember we took a small rental boat to the spring for the dive. There was nothing in sight but water and trees on the land. That same place now is downtown - houses and motels everywhere.

It's a shame they'd rather have grass than the river. They're destroying the the very reason they moved there.

We need to get rid of the epa. Why not destroy the natural resources for a few $10/hr jobs?

Sigh.

On grounds now just south of gomez rocks....slow go

But biggest scallops (meat) that we've ever picked up. Big as half a thumb in some cases. Really have to move alot for a limit.

Saw Sarasota Line-X bad A freeman on the river this morning and on the scallop grounds....maybe they found a better spot

I forgot to mention the size in my report - about 1/3 of the scallops we got looked like they might have been waiting since last year! Like ugadeer said - the meat was about half the size of your thumb.

Meeting the crew for a scallop supper to night to discuss our next trip -

We went for the first time scalloping out of Crystal River today. Only got 3 gallons of nice size of ones, cause some of the people I was with got bored, so we left earlier then I was wanting to. Lol. But I had a good time & will definitely try it again, but just with different people. ☺️

What's the layout of Bayport? Is it a marina or a county boat landing? Is there a marked channel to get to the Gulf? Thanks for any info!

Homosassa yesterday
4 gallons.
Took some work(I think keeping track all the kids was more work lol)
We hit everywhere. 4-5'+, eel grass, Etc
Best for us was 7-8' edge of sandy bottom and the wire grass
It was fun.

Anybody here run the mason/perry creek to get to the main Homosassa channel and care to share their opinion of it?
May need to when I'm down in a few weeks.

It's Petty Creek. You can run it with a shallow draft boat as long as the tide is at least half way up. Unless you have a track or a local boat to follow, you will hit something for sure. The run is very tricky. The deeper spots are not always where you would think they are.

The public ramp next to Macrae's has free parking. You need to get there early though.

Riverhaven Marina across the river on Hall's River Road gets $10 to launch, but the parking is closer and the lot is safer.
