Default Florida Keys - Where can you keep your boat if you live there, but not on the water?

Looking to see what options there are for marina's, yacht clubs, etc for anywhere from Maraton down to Key West. When we move down there, waterfront ownership is not an option. However, a community of boaters who keep their boat in the water so we dont have to trailer all the time would be ideal. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Jason

This would be better posted in the General Information page in the Florida Sportsman Fourm. I have a friend in Islomorada and he lives in a Condo with outs dockage and Keep his boat at Max,s marine. The last I heard it was over $350 a month for inside storage, but I will bet it has gone up. To top this off Some of the places to keep a boat have been sold to build Condo so keep ing a boat in dry or wet storage may be some what of a problem.

I live in Key Colony Beach which is next to Marathon. Marinas and storage yards do exist throughout the Keys but they are being bought out and converted into private "dockaminiums or rackaminiums" at an alarming rate. With these new outfits you need to "purchase" your slip or rack space and then also pay a very high monthly maintenance fee. Additionally, because you have purchased "real" property you must now pay land taxes. I suggest you tour/visit the part of the Keys that you are interested. Have a backup plan ready for when your marina decides to throw you out. Here in Marathon alone this has happened with: Marathon Marina (now Cay Clubs), Grassy Key Marina, Duck Key Marina, and the Boat House. In water slips and rack spaces are running about $120-140,000 each plus a couple of hundred per month maintenance.

Now that I have scared the hell out of you- there is in water dockage and rack storage running about $8-15/foot/month. Good luck, the average guy is being pushed out.
