Default Savannah to Charleston?

Has anyone ever cruised between Savannah and Charleston. What is the distance between the two cities and how long will it take at a speed of 20 - 25 kts? Tireless, have you ever done it?

It is a short trip, around 150 miles. Some of the most incredible waterway you'll ever see. In 2003 i took a sabatical and motored fron Southport, NC to Key West back up the gulf side of FL, crossed Okachobee and back up to Morehead, NC. Of the whole trip, the area you're speaking of was one of the most beautiful areas I saw. I'd get a chart book as there are some tricky turns and open bay waters to run. Make sure your VHF is in good working order as some of that area is desolate! Where are are you leaving from? Savanah is not on the intracostal... its about 10 miles off up the Savanah river, you'll need charts, its not in a chart book.

Jonafare,
Thanks for the reply. The trip you took would be awsome. I hope to do that some day. It sounds like a full day of cruising between SAV and CHS, about 6 - 7 1/2 hrs. I would probably start in SAV. I know there is a boat ramp, or used to be, in Thunderbolt right where the hiway 80 bridge crosses the intercoastal. I don't know about security as far as leaving a tow vehicle and trailer for a couple of days but it might be convienent to launch there. This is a trip I've wanted to take for a long time and I'm thinking about doing it in 2006 sometime.
