Planning Maimi to Bimini Hi all,
This is a great site and very informative. I have been vacation boating and fishing the water of Ocracoke Island, NC for many years and now the family wants to try something new. So being one to do something different I have started looking into crossing to Bimini from Miami. I have a dependable 24 foot cuddy that is not the best fishing boat, cursing or diving boat but is OK for our varied use, it serves us well and proven dependable (maybe I should not say that out loud?).
Anyway, I am starting to investigate crossing and think I understand the dangers of a 50 mile open ocean run. Have been doing NC offshore fishing trips so you could say my feet are wet. Weather will make all the difference between going and not going. Therefore my first question is historically what are the best weeks to plan a possible crossing trip? What about reservations at marina and hotel once I arrive? From what I have learned to date, if I arrive in late June/July early week or mid week I should be able to get a place for a couple days.
Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Like all great adventures, half the fun is in planning and preparation.
