Default Bahia Honda

Hi to all you fishing folks. We will be camping at Bahia Honda for two weeks in May. Only have a 10'6" rubber boat with 8 hp motor. Any fishing tips for that area would be nice. I know we have the bridges to fish under and the rocks along the bank in places from the boat. Mostly on the gulf side. Hope to show a 6 year old granddaughter how to fish and have fun. Fishing will not be limited to the boat. Thanks Jim

There are some deep holes just east of the bridge that used to produce some good snapper and grouper, I haven't fished there for a couple of years, good tarpon, snapper fishing right around the bridge too. enjoy, teaching a grandaughter to fish is a wonderful thing

Just had another thought, i never tried it at bahia Honda, but at Lower matecumbe, we used to troll giant plugs,,big cisco kid, 8"-10" magnums on the gulf side in the channels between the flats and get some unbelievable grouper. should work at BH on the gulf side

From marathon, the drop off for deep water is about 7 miles, inside of that are a lot of reefs for mackeral, kings, cobias, outside for dolphin sometimes they are out 20 miles. tuna, most wahoo are caught in winter, some around all year

i do most offshore from where I live in north miami beach,1.5- 2 miles out for kings, reef edge, 2 to 20 miles for dolphin just depends
