Ran the trip from Ft. Lauderdale to Punta Gorda about two weeks ago. Hit a couple of things (weeds???) along the way but other than that it was uneventful. Oh, except for the ticket for on plane in a minimum wake zone. (Our boat pushes a lot of water at slower speeds but the water cops don't care)

Gas prices were cheaper west of the lake. Only encountered one gas dock that was still out because of hurricane damage (Pirates Cove in Stuart).

We had a good trip through last week. Anyone considering making the trip be advised that the Ortona lock was only being operated during the even hours for one hour. ex: open 0600-0700. closed 0700-0800, open 0800-0900 etc.. Also be careful if you draw more than four feet when getting fuel at the River Watch Marina in Stuart. Although there are now a few less "high" spots, you may bounce a bit as you approach and leave the fuel dock. ed
