I just signed up for the Bahamas Boat fling heading to Bimini June 13-17. I have a few questions hoping some can answer my questions...
We will be heading to Ft. Laud on that Tuesday the 12th. Is there a hotel close to the Bahria Mar Marina?
Will be in Ft. Laud for 2 nights Tue/Wed night. Is the hotel (If there is one at the Marina) close by to some good nightlife. Will be w 6 buddies and Sure they will want to go hard that Tues night.
We will be 7 guys in total. And all our first time in Bimini. Is there some good night life in Bimini?
When we get there i see that there are some close by islands. A few of us were talking about hoping to find a deserted island close by and just beach the boat and Drink there for the day?
Thanks for answering my questions. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas for when we get down there please let me know. Will be a first time for us all.

Look a bit south on Gun Cay. The north side of the island is Honeymoon harbor and exactly what you are looking for. I'd guess some of the Fling boats or the organizer will suggest the same.
I like to run down 15 miles south of Cat and hang out on the little islands. Lot less "Dade" county there.

Glad you are coming to the fling in Bimini!!! Big Game Club is the best location on island for you and is central to everything here in Bimini. Great food and drink as well as new accommodations are at the Big Game Club. In Ft Lauderdale, if you are docking at Bahia Mar, you can stay there or stay right next to Bahia Mar on the south side is Bahia Cabana that has good night life and may be less expensive then Bahia Mar. We look forward to seeing youu in Bimini!!!

Bahia Cabana does not allow overnight docking, although it sounds like you are docking at Bahia Mar?

This Bimini thread has gotten me thinking... I'm putting a small crew together and think I'm gona trailer down from nc and make the run.... I carry 140 gallons and run offshore in my boat quite often 50+ offshore ... But I'm a 23' single engine so .... I'm looking at it hard.... Don't twist my arm please...

I do the crossing with a single and 84 gallons of fuel (typically burn less than 40 gals to get there). Luckily I don't have to tow the boat halfway down the eastern seaboard to go!

Think of it this way, if it's a 55 mile crossing, you'll never be more than 27.5 miles offshore.
My only issue is that I need an add on to my insurance (Charter Lakes) for the Islands.... They say I have to have a buddy boat so group or someone to cross with is my only choice unless I just fore go being insured for a couple of days.
