Did Not make it up last weekend but did get by yesterday. Wanted to check on the house & boat and get one boat project started. Sure looked good out on the water and there were more boats out than I would have expected. Wish I had had time to take mine out.
Weather does not look like it's going to cooperate this weekend but will try and get up there any way. I still need to winterize the waverunners so that would be a good reason. Maybe I will see you there.

PS - Pathery, looks like Hammond's has opened a "new" store in the old Hammonds location. I understand that they were not happy when the boys moved into the old Ruby Reds. They have had to change the name to North Georgia Outdoors or something. They have a great pull thru bait setup. Not sure what's going on in the old store.
I heard the "story" about the boys*and some Forsyth County developers and why they moved next door. I lost track after awhile.* Seems to have more twists and turns than an episode of Desperate Housewives.* All I know is they were evicted from the old store after word got out that they were planning to leave in the dead of night for the old Ruby Reds location.* I haven't been in either store yet to check out the selection of bait.
They were breaking ground on the boat storage expansion last time I was up there...moving the old house that sat on the property, etc...** Haven't been that way in about a month so not sure how its coming along.* They already promised to move me once the new slips are up...if you saw what I have to go through to squeeze the boat in right now you'd understand.*
In-Laws want an afternoon with the first mates on Sunday and the Admiral has something to do...which means that I will be there if the weather cooperates...
Just checked the weather channel forecast - ready for this - Sunny with a high of 54 and a low of 39. That looks pretty good to me. I am going to try and get family & Xmas stuff out of the way today and Saturday to clear everything for Sunday. Just one possible kink - my wife is apt to change her mind about a Party Sat. night which could screw things up. At least my son now has his driver's license so that makes it a little easier to get out. Wish me luck!
Went out today and caught two nice stripers. It was cold this morning with a fair amount of wind, but warmed up nice in the afternoon. Of course, I hooked up only in the morning.

I made it up yesterday for awhile yesterday afternoon. Drifted a few trout around but did not see any activity. Took the boat over the marina for fuel and rode around alittle. Weather was good and the trip was enjoyable. Guess I was out from about 1 to 4 pm. I tried to reach BoKat and Parthery on the radio, but no luck.
I would start a couple of places - (first I would check out Haywire - he seems to be doing something right). A couple of tackle stores to check out are The Dam Store, North Georgia Fishing & Outdoors, and Outdoor World. They all have a lot of folks that can help. Outdoor World will run free seminars on occasion. Also there is a free tabloid newspaper available (Lakeside Living I believe) that has a couple of fishing columns. I think you can still go to www.hammondsfishing.com and check out the forum.
But the best way is to hire a guide and spend the day out on the water with him. That's what I did years ago and it is really time for a refresher course.
Don't really have much advice for you. I am relatively new to striper fishing. I just do what the guys at the Dam Store tell me to do. If you are really serious, I would second the suggestion to hire a guide.
Maybe up there some this week. In fact will be leaving to head that way in a bit to drop something off. Going to try and get back up and do boating later in the week and weekend. Try me on the radio "Bob's Cay".
I might try to go up on Fri. I might also stop by Bill Heard Chev. in Buford on the way up to look at a 2003 Diesel crew cab to tow the GW to Fl. Pulling it now with a 1500 Suburban. Weather looks decent for Fri. If I go I'll give you guys a shout on the VHF.
