Fisherman - You will know you are there when you see a concrete boat ramp on the right side of the house leading up to the basement. A number of bass clubs refer to it as the "duck dock" as there is a concrete Donald Duck statue in the yard left by the former owner. The statue was removed for awhile and we had a number of people come by and ask about it.

Good luck.

I've seen the house with the ramp...now I know which one is yours....it was the cove I thought it was...

Looks pretty steep to be launching from though....

Parthery,

The former owner had some type of winch to launch a small aluminum boat. We have a Walker's Bay 10 which is a "plastic" boat that has a wheel built into the skeg. It is actually pretty easy to roll up and down the ramp because it is so light.

The house itself was one of the first built on the lake. Our property line actually extends into the water so we do not really have a corps line. That allows the house to be so close to the water as well as have the ramp. House could use some work but the location is great.

Now that you know where it is, stop by.

Check out this webstie for reports, there are also some instructional videos for free download: www.nothinbutfish.com

Striper fishing has been on fire the past few weeks I have caught 3 fish pushing 30 pounds. The backs of any of the creeks that hold bait are all good. Also try throwing a mack farr jig with fluke while your flat lines are out has been working. Use a split shot on your flat lines & plenty of distance between the bait and baloon/planer board. Bait has been easy to cast net or if you want to buy it, the other store near hammonds was selling blue backs for 7 bucks a dozen.

Also...if you have any questions about striper fishing, Bill Carson will be at the boat show all day & is usually more than happy to answer. I think he is working in the Palmetto Custom booth. If not there, check sea boss and sea pro.

Hi ya'll, from sunny, windy and cold South Florida. Sailfishing for me was a bust. We went out last thurs., the first day of the tournament and came back in after about 1 1/2 hours because of the sea conditions. I'm not "in" to pain anymore. I haven't been "outside" since and it is Tues. night. I did some cruising and fishing in the intercoastal but that's it. Seas in the ocean were about 4 -7 with a couple of 10 footers thrown in. My hard top is about 8 ft. off the water and some of the waves were above it by a good margin. Several boats braved the conditions and caught fish. The winner caught 7 sailfish during the 3 day tourney. I pulled the boat out of the water today (Tues.) because it is banging up against the dock and conditions are supposed to get worse. I am leaving to come back to Atlanta on Thurs. It looks like the boat show was the better plan.

I have talked to Bob Weekly in the service dept. at Northside. I needed some repairs on a Suburban and he took care of me and, yes we did talk about boats and fishing. He is a good man.

Maybe by the time I get back to Atlanta it will warm up some. I understand ya'll have been freezing up there.

It isn't warming up much. I work outside 10 to12 a day and this week has been rough. Not as rough as the last time I fished Destin and 4' to 6' was the first and calmest day but rough. Stay in breezy south Fla. as long as you can.

If the relay comes in for the tilt I may try to get up this weekend to install it. Maybe I'll get snowed in!

well it's February now and I haven't seen much activity on this thread so I thought I'd bump it up...

Went up last Friday to install the tilt relay and take care of a few things before the ice hit. Needed to get back before traffic hit 400 so it was a quick trip up and back. The wind was strong and the lake was pretty rough. There were 3' to 4' waves in our cove and plenty of whitecaps out in the main body. Even though it looked like "Grady Weather", I just stayed in the boathouse and replaced the relay. Boat was rocking pretty good inside the boathouse. When I left I went by the ramp at Tidwell and saw on boat on the water - it was some dealer/mechanic testing a boat.

If the weather report holds out I may try and go up Saturday. I'll have the radio on if you get up.

Remember it only takes a few good days to bring out all the new boats and boaters from the boat show. They can be fun to watch! Seems like every year I end up helping a couple of new boaters out. So do your part and get up there and help them out.

First warm day and Charleston Park will be crawling with them....when I was up there a couple weeks ago they had resurfaced the lot, changed the traffic pattern and restriped it the other direction.* Rumor has it that Forsyth County has taken over maintenance from the Corps.

I'm going to try for Saturday as well...will call you on the VHF.

It was a beautiful at Lanier today. Cool to start but ended up in a tee shirt during the afternoon. Trolled an umbrella up Flat Creek with no luck but caught a 2lb 14oz spotted bass in the mouth of shoal creek. Boat traffic was pretty impressive for a Saturday in February. There were quite a few houseboats leaving Holiday late in the day. Probably spent the night out on the hook or a beach.

Spent some time washing the boat. It felt good to get outside. Looks like tomorrow will be nice too, so have fun!

I actually feel like I got a little sunburn!

I fished yesterday for a while, one throw of the net in flat & I had plenty of bluebacks for the day and a few gizzards. Thought it was goingt to be a great day.

Flatlined in flat, balus, and other spots & never caught a fish. First time I had been skunked out in months.

Hey, Lake Lanier guys,

Anyone going to the lake tomorrow, Tues. 2/22? I haven't been out since last month sailfishing in Fl. I have to re-wire a GPS antenna that broke on that last trip. I might do it tomorrow and then put the boat in the water. I know there is a possibility of rain but I've gotta get out. I'll look for a post later today and be on VHF 16 tomorrow. Call Bokat if anyone is up there.

Welcome Gabilgerat!

What part of the boating business are you in? Reason I ask is my brother has been in the boat business in and around LL for 16+ years also. Family has had boats on the lake since 1967.
