Who is that man in the hat? That doesn't look like Lake Lanier to me. Nice going Bob! Nice fish. I'm looking to catch some of those in Jan. in Stuart.
I still have some motor issues that I have to resolve before I trailer south. Port eng. giving me problems. Shifting out of rev. sometimes won't happen and now I have a NO OIL light and warning on same eng. I'm not sure if it's my fault or engs. fault. Maybe I have knocked something loose while working on other things. Troubleshooting will continue when I can sneak up to the lake.
Brian, do you have any time off this week? Maybe we could meet and I'll get that seat from you.
Bo...I'm off to NYC for 2 days....last trip of the year...I'm off next week.I'll get it to you later in the week if you are around.
Jim...the boat is beautiful...congratulations again and thanks for the shakedown ride. Glad you got to run it in some windy conditions. Yesterday, it was like glass out there. By the way, after seeing yours, I realized that mine really needs to be compounded and waxed. 5 years of oxidation tends to show up when you are parked next to a brand new one.
I have a curious problem with my speedo/FM gauge. At cruising rpm, (above 4K) it loses the GPS signal. Throttle back to idle and it picks it up again. I'm hoping its just a loose connection...the VHF doesn't lose the NMEA signal so I don't think its the GPS. Need to check the wiring again and rule it out...it could be the gauge.
I might as well ask a question here since I can not get an answer to this question. Does anybody in ATL know of a place I can store my rig for a month this winter? I am looking for a place that is inside a building so I can do some long overdue repairs, re-terminations, etc and will not freeze my fingers off while doing so?
Good to see you on here. Do you want to work on it in ATL or SAV. I think your bro-in-law told me you keep you boat in SAV. I'd have to ask around in both places. I have a family connection in SAV who might be able to help but I'm not sure in ATL. Bob's Cay is in the commercial roofing business and he might have some connections if we can get him down off his high from Costa Rica. How about it Bob, can you help?

Thanks bokat....I need to find a place here in ATL. My boat stays under cover in Sav but that 500 mile round trip to simply do some wiring is kind of tough to make. Hopefully I will be able to find a suitable place for a month (I figure 6 days of weekend work will get me back in perfect condition so that I can beat up the boat all next year).
I have my boat in our warehouse right now and am starting to get bitched at quite a bit to get it out of the way. And I do not think we could get a hot rig like a 31 Fountain in the building. So let me think about other possible locations.

David, do you have a preferred part of town?
I will take anything that is locked sir.....and I am willing to pay a fair sum for the convenience of working on the boat here. Even if you can not come up with a suggestion I appreciate your willingness to try. If I get her up here .... does anybody want to hunt stripers in the winter? Since it is winter you are not required to wear any bling bling.
Sure, I'll hunt for stripers in the winter. That's the time of year I caught my one and only striper, on a topwater popping lure. Let's find a boat that's not being worked on and put up the curtains and go.
What kind of work are you doing on your boat, Tireless?

Rewiring, rewiring and more rewiring. I had nearly everything on the boat turning on and off all season. I may upgrade my electronics....I am currently resisting the urge but I think my ability to maintain that resistance will fail.
Roger that on the striper thing. I have been in ATL since 1986 and went to Lanier last winter for the very first time. I was planning on striper fishing with another THT member - treedawg. Just as we were setting up he and his cousin received a call that his uncle had fallen 30 feet onto his back....tha man was in his sixties. Anyhoo....we stopped what we were doing so they could race to the hospital (he is recovering). We had just started marking bait fish when this happened.
I will check around with guys I know that own a few industrial buildings in town and see if we can find a suitable spot for a 31' Fountain. Might be tough but I will give it a try.
The bottom paint is done (except for touching up the pads) and I plan to "Pro Polish" the hull today. Then all is left is to put her back on the trailer. I'm trying to decide about taking it to Boating Atlanta for the 200 Hr checkup. Need to call and see how busy they are now.
As soon as my boat hits the water, I'm going striper fishing. Just drop the curtains and fire up the portable heater. The bassboat guys may catch more fish with thier trolling motors and such, but I will be warm and comfortable! This year I may try setting up my outriggers for drifting freeline baits to kinda spread them out a bit.
So how can you live in Atlanta for almost 20 years and just now get to the lake? Too busy catching the big ones off the coast I'm sure...
I simply do not have any friends that have a boat at Lanier. Now that I think about it the real problem is I simply don't have any friends. Besides, lake water smells funny to me. Who doesn't love that sickly sulfer smell at low tide in the brackish river waters at the coast.
I talked to a friend of mine in my fishing club, www.aswsc.org, who is in the packing materials business about your warehouse issue. He has one but no space in it and it is locked up at night. He will keep his ears open and let me know if he finds out anything. Will you be working on your boat in the evenings, weekend days or weekdays?

All of the above or I will take what I can get if it's warm and secure. Thanks for your efforts.
You guys are welcome to crash our party any time, so long as we can crash yours on the coast. As a matter of fact, I am going to be in SAV Christmas evening with my daughter and son-in-law. My wife and I are spending two nights with them and coming back to ATL on the 27th. I don't think fishing is in the plan though.
We may have to crash that Lanier party this summer one weekend....

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe during the winter some of the ATL folks should get together for some drinks and a chance to tell some really big lies.

I wish I could be there Christmas Day....2ft going out 60nm. It will probably be blowing the rest of the week when I hoped to get a shot at the stream one more time this year.
