Hey Bob, I'm in Jupiter this week for the Thanksgiving holiday. If you get some freee time and want to go for a boat ride or do some fishing PM me - I'd enjoy the company. Bokat, are you going to be down in Stuart anytime this week? I'll be up at the Manatee Pocket and Pecks Lake for sure.

Jupiter...

It is Mon. the 21st and I am in Savannah. I will be leaving here today about 10 am for the Stuart area. It takes about 6 1/2 - 7 hours to drive it. We are staying with my brother-in-law until thurs. and then driving to Tampa for a wedding on the weekend then back to Stuart on Sun. He wants to try to fish one day but may not be able to. I would love to join you one day if it works out. I'll post on here or PM you once I get to Stuart and find out a schedule. In any case, if you get up to the Manatee pocket area give me a call on my cell phone. If I'm at my Bro-in-laws house I'll come out on his dock and say hello. (404-218-8834) Hope to see you there.

Jim - Thanks for the great offer. I'm back in Atlanta however until after Thanksgiving. Going to try and get up to Lanier sometime this week and pull my boat out of the water. Will likely be back in Florida next week.

I know I will be back at the Lake on Tuesday (29th) to help my friend move his Carver from Aqualand to University Yacht Club. Hope the weather is good. To round out his fleet (40' Carver & 24' Hackercraft on Lanier), he just purchased a Grady 330 with twin 225F to be delivered in February. He is going to keep this boat on the coast. He started looking at 16' skiffs for the coast, looked at a couple of dual consoles, walkarounds, and express cruisers before buying the 330. Bought the boat sight unseen - never been on one! Now that will give Brian a run for the money for boat buying as he has purchased all of these in the last 12 months!

I'm pretty well set at the moment

This new (old) house is gonna wreck the wallet before its all over....

If the weather improves, I may try to sneak up tomorrow...would love to see the Carver. Was up there yesterday and ran by the boat....blowing leaves have covered it up. Pulled it out and took it up to the gas station to top up the tanks....must have been quitea sight as the leaves blew out. Anyway, it was nice to see $100 by almost 50 gallons of gas.

Brian, we are moving the boat next week, not tomorrow. What you really need to see is the Hackercraft after it is delivered. Check this site out.

http://www.hackerboat.com/html/runabout.html

He's getting the 24' runabout. But I think my personal favorite will be the 330!!! He wants to plan a trip from Darien to Key West in the spring. That will be a blast.

Keep up the good work with all the house and boat swaps. The economy needs you...

You guys haven't missed much, so far it's been rainy, windy and overcast down here in Jupiter. It's supposed to calm down by Thanksgiving day. I've hoping for at least a couple good offshore days before I head back to Atlanta. Sorry, I'll miss ya when you are down here Bob. Bo, I'll give you a ring. Good luck with the new house Brian!

Hello everyone from S. Fl. It seems everytime I come down here the wind blows and it gets rough. I went out with my brother-in-law in his 25 Parker Thanksgiving morning and met up with JupiterEdge. That was fun, by the way, thanks Jim for towing up from Jupiter to meet us. We couldn't find bait at the 2 or 3 spots we stopped at but we did find several school of Spanish macks and enjoyed catching them. We couldn't go very far offshore because the west wind was kicking up the seas farther out and we were having a 1 pm thanksgiving meal. We then left for Tampa for a wedding weekend and I understand things calmed down then. I am back in Stuart at my bro-in-law's and the winds have picked up again, Oh well. We'll probably be back in ATL on Wed. and then back to work on the throttle and shift cables that I had to leave half done last week. As JupiterEdge said earlier, you're not missing much except the warm weather.

By the way, I met the brother-in-law of one of the Atlanta & Savannah THT forum members earlier in my trip. Turns out he is my daughter's boss at Northpoint Realty in Savannah. Tireless is the forum member. Maybe we can get a group of us to trailer down to Savannah and he can show us some fishing spots. See ya'll later.

Bokat, good meeting up with you and your brother in law. Angie and I caught our limit of Spanish before we headed in on Thursday. On Friday, the ocean layed down flat and we ran out the Jupiter Inlet and shot up the coast to Stuart to have lunch at the restaurant you recommended (BareBones). Had the best Blackened Mahi SandWch I have ever tasted. Thanks for the recommendation! The Savannah Idea sounds like fun to me - I haven't done any boating on the GA coast yet.

Brian - Hope your move goes smoothly.

Took a break from packing yesterday and spent about an hour on the lake...I needed to take some stuff out of the garage and up to the boat...at least thats what I told the admiral

Water temp is down to about 54 and the North wind was blowing...good news is with the curtains down, its not too bad when you are running.

THT member "JimInGA" will be joining our motley group shortly...he is picking up his very gently used '05 GW Seafarer 228 next week...and rumor has it he will be parked in the spot next to me at North Lanier.

Edge and Bo...thanks for the update from South FL...by the way, I too have been to BareBones...a good sandwich for sure. Also, thanks for thinking of me. I learned a long time ago that a really good friend doesn't ask his friends to help him move.....

Bob...did you figure out how to block the boat up? What kind of shape was the bottom in?

Good to hear from everyone after the Holiday. Sounds like everyone had a great time spread out all over the SE.

Pulled the boat out last Saturday and put it in the warehouse yesterday. May get the guys to block it up today. I am going to use concrete blocks after all. Looks to be the fastest and cheapest way. Plus I can use the block later to sink more Xmas trees around my dock. Bottom is in good shape, I had blisters repaired 3 years ago and epoxy barrier installed. I'm going to use the same paint as before but instead of black I'm going to use dark blue. As is usual, I have just about decided it would have been easier to have a yard do this, but it is something I've wanted to try. BTW, I was going to take it to the Aqualand self service yard but the cost seemed a bit high. They charge $5 a foot per lift. I would need 3 lifts at $100 per lift.

Any idea on the timing of the Savannah trip? That area is really beautiful. The cruising is great from Beaufort SC to Fernandina. Spring and fall are the best time to go. I will be down in the area in February as that is when my friend takes delivery of his 330. His house is just north of Darien, not far from Two Way Fish Camp.

Today starts the move of my folks from the lakehouse to thier new place. I'm sure this will be a couple of week process maybe even longer. I'm know my parents are anxious to get into the new place so maybe I'll have my "weekend retreat" back soon!

Just noticed that we are about a week away from the one year anniversary of Bo's first post! Looks like we are averaging about a page a month. Keep up the good work...

Harv,
I'd be happy to get you into salt water fishing. Trouble is...I don't know much about the Savannah area. I have some resources though. My son-in-law does some fishing there and I can maybe PM Tireless and find out when he is going down there. We can maybe get some hints from him. I wouldn't mind doing some short range cruising also. Bob is right, it is a very pretty area. Bob, I don't have any dates in mind for a Savannah trip. I just threw that out as an idea. If everyone would like to make a trip there we can work on it. Good luck on you bottom painting, that is no fun. Looks like I might be able to stay an extra day or two down here. Later.
Bo

Having a little family gathering there in January and I'll research the ramps, hotel, etc...

Was talking with Parthery today, getting some help on VHF use at Lanier. He's been very helpful. Just wanted to say hello to the "Lanier THT gang." We're picking up the Grady on 12/13 in Columbia and then taking her right up to North Lanier storage. We'll be getting the Grady her first "salt bath" right after Christmas... trailering to HHI for the week. We're sure looking forward to meeting you guys over the next year. The idea of us hopefully joining in on some kind of "group cruising" on the SC/GA/FL coast sounds like fun.

btw, does anybody here have any suggestions on where around HHI we might want to try our luck on fishing this time of year? I know it's slower, but was hoping to at least boat something other than a ray - something edible that is!

MAN.....this was alot of reading......17 pages and counting......(I didnt get to all of'em..) Well Im about to join into the GA THT boaters club....Im buying my first house in Danielsville (just outside of Athens). Closing on the 19th, and Ive been trying to do as much reading up on Lake Lanier as I can, seems like a good place for me, cuase I love striper fishing. Im trying to get the "new" old lady (actually we're getting married on Dec 30) interested in boating, Ive seen the "Lights of Lanier" via car, but I thought this year Id take her by boat if the weather is good. Anybody got any places of interest? Im gonna be driving back and forth from there to Columbia b/t now and Dec 30, but Id like to bring the boat as soon as I can.

Thanks, and hope to see ya out there.

Brad

Welcome Jiminga and Walden 75. Look forward to meeting you at the lake soon.

So Jim, I see you are from the Dunwoody area. Do you have a white GM SUV? I have seen a truck with a Grady tag on the front several times in the Chamblee Dunwoody / 285 area. I live just inside the perimeter between Ashford Dunwoody and Chamblee Dunwoody.

Walden, I have taken the boat over to see the lights before (many years ago) and it is ok but you cannot see much. The night I went you saw more car headlights and taillights than Xmas lights. Traffic was much better on the boat however!!! I think the elevation makes it hard to see alot of the lights. If you go I would recommend putting in somewhere like Big Creek and head for the Lanier Islands Bridge. Stay north of the bridge and work your way around the shore "counterclockwise" past the golf course, hotel, waterpark, to the second hotel. You can continue on but it gets difficult to see the lights that are back in the woods around the camp grounds. Good luck.

Bob

How about a PM if you get a chc and let me know your email / phone. I'll provide same. We sure look forward to being back on the water after many years high & dry!! Jim

Bob, you sure it wasn't a Black Tahoe with a GW plate on it? That would have been me...How is the bottom job coming?

We are moved...what an ordeal...only a few dozen more boxes to unpack. Discovered that JiminGa lives about 5 minutes away, as well.

Walden...welcome...any questions we can answer...let us know.

Realized today that the ATL boat show is about a month out...may be time to think about some sort of organized outing????
