The 2nd still looks OK, but I have a conflict Saturday evening so I will likely not be there Sunday until mid morning. What do you guys want to do? BS around the dock, have e few beers, etc? Not sure I want to get into grilling or something like that. If we decide to eat perhaps we can all run over to Holiday, Aqualand, or Starboard Marina to one of the resturants.
A friend of mine has just purchased a 40' Carver aft cabin cruiser and I am going to meet him Sunday morning about 9:30 am at Aqualand. The previous Owner of the boat is going to give us a crash course on the operation of the boat. I should be back at the dock around noon.
Looks like sunday afternoon it is. Great. I'll be able to get up there early to mid - afternoon. Let's make this simple again, just hang out a while and maybe take Bob's suggestion and go eat somewhere if we feel like it. See ya'll there. Here's my cell number if things change or fall apart. 404-218-8834
Had a great time yesterday and it was great to see everybody. Quite a fleet tied up at the dock. Sorry I couldn't make dinner, hope you made it to Aqualand in time.
Angie and I enjoyed meeting everyone. Thanks for your hospitality Bob! We enjoyed having dinner w/Bokat at the Dockside Grill and had our first night-time boat ride back to the dock. Made it fine - but reinforced my desire for GPS. Gave Angie lots of hints of what I would like for Christmas. The photos I took with the camera phone were the size of postage stamps - absolutely useless. Sorry guys! Hopefully Brian's photo will come out better. Look forward to seeing everyone again.
Jim...I posted the pic in the main thread...we were so busy socializing we didn't take many pics.
Bokat - Lowrance is sending a new GPS antenna today...apparently the early ones were lacking the shielding and it did get toasted. It will be here tomorrow. Will take me less than 5 min. to swap it out.
Brian, Bob, Bo, Kathy, Jim and Angie. Brian, the picture is really good and I have made it my wallpaper. I responded in the main thread to describe my boat. I had a good time yesterday and look forward to talking about boats in more detail in the future. Sorry I had to leave early but I will block out more time when we gather again. Next time we can hang off my dock on 4 Mile and get Bob's boat in the picture and, of course, dogs Jake and Buddy. Harv
What, one get together and every body stops posting? Come on guys, what's going on?
We got my parents moved into the lakehouse last weekend. What an ordeal. They will be there until mid December. Hope all will go well but my brother and sisters and I are a bit worried about them being up there by themselves. We all plan to stop by and check on them when we can.
I am going to try and pull my boat out about Nov 1 for a little TLC. Needs a good waxing, bottom paint, teak touch up, and other small projects. It also needs a trip to Boating Atlanta for an engine service.
Highlight of the next few weeks is a trip to the Ft Lauderdale Boat show. I'm going on Thursday and hope to meet up with the THT get together that evening. It's a great show and I am really looking forward to it.
I was up there last weekend...will be out there tomorrow for a little while. Out of town company in for the weekend and they want a boat ride.
Been researching the Chattanooga to Guntersville trip and it sounds like a great 2 day ride. 113 miles from Chattanooga to Guntersville...a long ride for one day? You can shorten it to about 70 by launching at I-24 on Nickajack Lake but then you miss the "Grand Canyon of the South". Thinking maybe a day trip from Chattanooga to Nickajack and back....anyone interested?
Hello everyone,
Sorry I haven't been on for a while. I can't believe how busy retirement is. I guess I am trying to knock out all the projects I have put off for a long time so I will have more boating time. I, too, enjoyed very much our get together. I am also looking forward to another. Harv, who would have thunk it, we had a connection. That was fun.
Our fishing club postponed the Orange Beach tournament to this coming weekend to escape the last hurricane. Now, it looks like we'll have to cancel or postpone it again to avoid Wilma. I'm not going out in 6 -8 footers. It looks like I'll have some time to replace my throttle and shift cables before it gets too cold. Hope to see ya'll soon.
Bo, don't worry about it. Actually it worked out well....the old one took forever to acquire and lock in. The new one locks in almost immediately. And, I got a software upgrade out of the deal as well.
Let me know if you want that extra GW pedestal chair...I hope to make it to the November ASWSC meeting or I can meet you at the lake. Need to get it out of the garage before I start packing.
Brian, the Chatanooga trip sounds fun. What weekend are you shooting for? Have you done this trip before? I think I could talk Angie into going as long as we go before it gets too cold. Bo, good to hear from you. Angie says to thank you for bringing Kathy to THT get together - she really enjoyed having someone to Girltalk with
Brian , I came to the same conclusion as you did that a Chattanooga to Guntersville Lake trip would be a long haul and have decided on a slow ride through the Grand Canyon of the South and its fall foliage next Tuesday,Oct.25th as most upcoming weekends are out due to other commitments. Buddy, wife Barbara and I plan to launch at the Tennessee River Park just upstream from Chattanooga. We currently plan to spend the night on the boat and return the next day. If anyone else is interested I probably will launch between 10 and 11 am. If no one else can make it I will scout the river and report back.

Bob...the admiral has been coordinating the sale of the house since the spring....after a false alarm, it appears that I'll be a renter for about 6 weeks or so starting Thursday. I have an idea where we want to end up and it will not be a covenant restricted neighborhood. I'd like to save the $110 a month and be able to work on the boat whenever I want.
Harv, I drove back across Nickajack today returning from Nashville...its beautiful and I wish I could get away next week. Unfortunately, due to the abovementioned "project"...its a little tougher than anticipated to escape. I'll definitely be curious as to how the trip is though. Maybe I can sneak a "one-nighter" in some time in November...should still be nice weather.
