Random Quote: You gotta be on the tracks when the train comes through
For a house on a hill, there is a low spot in my backyard right by the door....when we get a gully washer, water sometimes seeps under the door. When we get 10" of rain...all bets are off.
The standing water is up....the uncarpeted side is dry. The other side, which has a remnant of berber down, is another story. Everything is off it, and I sucked up a bunch of water tonight...I'm going to see if I can get it dry...then I'll Rug Doctor it and see how it comes out.
I do need to come up with a plan to keep the water from coming in though....and it looks like the french drain might be the best answer.
I looked under the cover of the boat tonight....other than some leaves in the motor well, its clean and dry under the cover. Of course its also buried up to the axle in mud. Apparently at the height of the storm water came pouring off the slope behind where the boat is parked and washed the ground out underneath it. Should be an easy fix though.....pull it out...put some fresh gravel underneath it.
One of these days I'll get to the lake and try my new prop....I hope it works...the old one sold today on eBay and gets shipped tomorrow.
OK, its been long enough so I'll go ahead and get it started...
"Brian, you had your chance. Why didn't you just try out your new prop in your basement? That's what I'd have done."
The ramp was closed due to high water
Went up to the lake this afternoon....the water is surprisingly clear given the amount of runoff. Saw some flotsam in the water...and a number of people who haven't moved their docks in....also saw the Pachanga next door....straight up and now under the boathouse.
^^^^ good reason to have a good bilge pump and battery, or a mooring cover so it does not overwhelm the system. I am just assuming thats what happened here though.....

I think the boat had a cockpit cover but I am not sure. It had only been there for a few weeks and I think it belongs to a friend of our neighbors. They have a Cobalt they keep in the boathouse.
Had Vivian look up the owners phone number on the tax records and gave them a call. Left a message and haven't heard from them yet. Kinda worried that when they start releasing water the boat will drift down into our dock.
Found an interesting site with the current lake level. This seems better to me than the COE site. The graph is pretty neat and you can click on different years to see what the historic level has been. From the looks of this graph, the last time the lake was at 1071 was in March 2005.

Thanks, Bob, for finding such a great site for monitoring our lake level. It is infinitely better than the ACOE site. It seems to be reporting the level of the lake at intervals during the day...not just the midnight reading. For example, the ACOE midnight level was 1067.63 yet right now the new site says 1067.68.

This site has real time:
precipitation, wind direction, wind speed, air temp, air pressure, reservoir storage, and reservoir elevation (lake level). It can go back 60 days.
The link below brings you to a page with links to real time stream levels in the entire state. If you click on the station number for the river you will get the some of the same information as above.
Finally, here is an example from the above link that shows the levels of the Chattahoochee just below the dam. This is where I go to see if they are letting water out.
I went 10 days back. You can see the last time they let more than the required minimum amount of water out was Sept 17th.
