Unfortunately no, I didn't make it up there. Too much to do. I do plan on going up tomorrow (Fri.). I have to solve a check eng. light and warning on one of my motors. I can't seem to get my laptop computer to talk to the eng. computer. I think it will take some time and a call to BRP for tech support. I can run the motor just fine but when it idles I get the alarm and light. I should have plenty of time now, I've been retired for about 14 hrs. and so far so good. The get-together after labor day sounds like a good plan, hope to see ya'll up there soon.
Yes that was me in the hammock. Maybe one of the best naps I've taken in awhile, but you should have beeped the horn. Glad you found it OK.
My son has an away game tonight in Elberton. Parents are taking a bus and we will not be back until very late. Will get up sometime on Saturday and stay until Monday.
Should be around the dock most of the weekend (conserving gas!) so come by and say hello if you are up.
BTW - somebody got on the VHF last week to broadcast a "PSA" that gas at Bald Ridge was $3.65 gallon. And that was last week. I bought gas at Lanier Harbour for about $3.25
Actually I have been at the lake the last two weekends from Saturday to about mid-day on Sunday. Sorry I missed you Brian. I hope to get up there this weekend for about the same amount of time.
Looks like my Mom & Dad (both in thier 80's) will be living at the lake house for a couple of months starting in October. They are moving into an assisted living facility and have already sold their house in Atlanta and condo in New Smyrna Beach. Turns out the new unit will not be ready until December.
I need to repaint the bottom paint and will probably pull my boat out around 10/1 to start the work. Have not decided if I am going to do the work under the shed at the lakehouse or in the warehouse at work.
All that said, if everybody wants to get together, sooner is better than later.
I think a rendezvous would be fun and a good way to ease ourselves into the less active fall and winter season. Unfortunately, between UGA home games and ALTA tennis my Saturdays are not at the lake. I can make any Sunday though.
I will be out tommorrow - (Saturday morning) water skiing. Not sure about Sunday - will try and get out Sunday afternoon as well. I usually am monitering 16 unless I am stopped for lunch somewhere or in the water. See you guys on the lake soon.
Ended up at the lake about 4:30 pm and went out on the lake until about 8 pm. Went back out Sunday morning for a couple of hours. Lkae was pretty quiet.
Next Sunday I am helping my folks pack to move, so maybe the following Sunday 10/2 would be a good time to meet.
I was out yesterday as well...it was a beautiful day. Lake level is down almost a foot...nice to see some more beaches reappear.Won't be out this weekend but the October weekends (with the exception of the last one - FL/GA game) look good.
Any weekend in October is fine for me. Saturday was great - not too boats out and the water was calm in the morning for skiing. Wow, I forgot how tiring water skiing can be. I was so sore on Sunday I didn't go boating on at all. Bob, I shot by your place on Sat afternoon - did you get another boat? I saw a pontoon boat tied up at your dock that wasn't there last time I cruised by your cay. BTW, I know what you mean about the bass boats flying by your dock and powering down.. saw that happen twice in approximately 10 minutes.
The way I am going it may take a couple of winters. Actually the pontoon boat belongs to my 84 year-old Dad who has had it for a while. Family members take the boat out some,so maybe it was out when you came by the house. My plan is to get it "fixed up" a bit for my son to use as I will worry less with him using it rather than my boat. The old (1990) Johnson runs pretty good. I have learned one valuable lesson with this project - never try to install carpet by yourself and certainly don't try it after dark...
I did get a new helm seat installed last weekend. The second roll of carpet is finally in so looks like I will be back at it soon. Stop by if you are around.
I have not been on the forum for a while but a get together sounds good. I like Bob's suggestion of Sun. 10/2. I can be there in the afternoon but not in the morning. How does that sound to you guys? I was out on the lake on Thurs., pretty nice day. I picked the boat up from Bradley's Thurs. and took it straight to the ramp.
I am still having some issues with my motors. I finally got the diagnostic software up and running, boy is that nice. It seems the salt has corroded some of the components in the shift linkage and is throwing off the throttle position sensor and that causes my warning horn to sound. It looks like new throttle and shift cables are around the corner for me.
Brian, are you going to the Orange Beach tournament? It should be interesting after all the weather down there.
How about a commitment from everyone for a get together Sun. afternoon 10/2 at Bob's, if that's OK with you Bob. Nothing like inviting everyone to a party at someone else's house, how rude can I get?
Hit the lake for a few hours this afternoon - not too many boats out. Guess the overcast sky and breeze discouraged some folks. October 2nd is fine with me - I look forward to meeting ya'll.
