They go by a few different names, but I've not heard of many people using as bait. They do hang around schools of greenbacks and threadfins and often catch them on sabiki's when trying for the good stuf. They have sharp dorsal and anal fins so careful if you grab a hold of one. keep on dropping sabiki in same exact spot and you'll pull in some good bait.

That's an Atlantic Bumper - similar to the Leatherjacket but less spiny (but they can still stick you) and deeper body. Never used them for bait so can't say if they are any good or not.

This may or may not be a local trick but for most of these crazy little jack's, hold them belly-up and they calm right down... that anal fin hurts like hell.

I have always called those butter fish.
I have been fishing down here 30 yrs and to
the best of my knowledge never caught a
fish on one. They just take up oxygen in the well!
