Default Bahamas Boat Insurance

Looking to cruise to the Bahamas for a couple of weeks this Spring. My current boat policy covers the entire Atlantic coast, but no Bahamas. Other than that, I am very happy with the policy. Any suggestions on a company that would insure my vessel in the Bahamas, perhaps even just while we are there? Thanks in advance.

Ask your current insurer if they will sell you a rider to cover your specific trip - a good carrier should be able to accomodate you. I buy a rider for each Bahamas trip from my insurer (SeaSafe/Geico) - it costs me about $50 for a one week trip to Abacos, or $100 for two weeks to Exumas.

It may take a little persistance - don't take no for an answer at first - ask to talk to the boss.

That's odd, my insurance company (Acadia) automatically has the Bahamas figured into their rates for both coasts of Florida. Thought that was the regular deal...

Progressive only does 125 miles from East Coast... Thats Bimini and West end only... We are doing Abaco's and Nassau this year and I am having issues getting a policy ...

Both Boat US and NBOA provide full Bahamas coverage. I was with Progressive and ended up switching to NBOA - premium was 25% less.
