Default Need fishing info for trip North

Hi,

THT has been such a great resource, it got me to Harkers Island last winter and Geiger Key this winter. My nephew and I are going to be headed North early next month on my way back to Maine. Leaving the Keys early April with the RV and the 25' Grady White and headed along the west coast of Florida, then up the East Coast. Where should we stop along the Florida coast (East and West) and Georgia mid April and what should we target?

Thanks,

fg

That is a lot of area to cover, but if you have not been to the big bend area of Florida ie: Crystal River, Hommassa, Yankeetown, Cedar Key, it might worth consideration. Fishing may or may not be great, but the scenery is great. Google all of them and see what you can find, that meets your needs. I know Crystal River has a Campground down river, I think it is with a boat ramp as well with water front sites.

Thanks 29N, we are currently near Ft Myers Beech and not doing well, but having fun. The Crystal River is definitely on the list. Will be there in a week or so if I can find an alternator for the RV. :-( (Leece Neville 160 amp. A0012824LC)

As you head north, you might want to take a stop along the Chesapeake Bay for Striped Bass. Years ago I lived near the Bay in Maryland and spent many hours chasing Stripers this time of year. Great fighters and great eaters. Used to fish out of a town called Chesapeake Beach on the west side of the Bay. The mouth of the Choptank River was always good as well as an area called Bloody Point just to the north.

Tnx PG... Luv them stripers... We are leaving the Ft. Myers area in the am and headed to Crystal River, then the route back gets a little murky. Caught some spanish macks, small snappers, a good eatin' catfish, and had some great boat rides... Went past the lock today on the way to Okechobee and back, plus we were out at Sanibel at sunrise to try for some early tarpon without any luck...
