West End Bahamas accomodations - The Hull Truth

Hi All,
I have been hearing a lot of different things about the status of things in West End. Are there any decent accomodations there if you are taking your boat over? Can you still clear customs there? Been going to Bimini for years, and wanted to try something different.

You can stay in Old Bahama Bay in West end and clear customs. OBB is pricey. The other option is Bootlebay just around the corner about 6 miles SE of OBB.
thats about it. Oh and there is also Blue marlin Cove condos which are nice as well located in Bootle Bay never stayed there hear its nice.

Whered you stay in Bimini? Blue Marlin is a nice 2/2 Condo that includes dock, food, drinks in their price. Bootle bay is like camping with water and a roof. OBB is like being in a nice resort back in the states. Bootle was 125 a night for dock and room last i went. OBB is still there expensive as always even staying on your boat.

We've stayed all over Bimini- north and south islands. Big Game, Bimini Bay, Weech's, Katt's Kottages, Blue Water, Bimini Sands. Just thinking about something different, maybe a little better fishing. Seems the fishing in Bimini (much like the keys) has gotten progressively worse over the years Do you guys think the fishing is better in West End than in Bimini? I know the Bimini area fairly well, which makes it more comfortable getting around, and the crew will be with me -Bride, kids 7 and 10- and we just wanted to try a new adventure. We all love fishing, snorkeling and diving. Do you guys that have been to both think they would enjoy West End over Bimini, or is it more of just a hardcore fishing area? They love the boat, but they also like to chill aound the pool. Thanks.

West OBB is really nice I stay there on my boat. they do have deals on rooms just got to keep checking there web site. The pool is first rate and over looks the flats and good for swimming etc.
I used to do Bimini a lot when I lived in Pompano stayed the condo in south bimini,weeches,and BGC they all had their pluses and minuses in my opinion. I think I prefer WE over bimini as I have been there so much and have so many good numbers/friends etc over there.
i could not speak to much about bimini now days I was last there in 2000. I read all the threads on bimini they ve had numerous issues too many for my liking. I have no desire to go back

Bootle Bay looks about our style. Is your boat and gear safe there at night time? Do they have a pool?

Norman at bootle bay looks after everything very well. If your running a center console I would consider chaining it up at night all though it will be highly unlikely any one would take it. I leave my fishing crap all over my boat no one will mess with it. Vida, Norman etal will take good care of you.
for what its worth norman looked after my stuff 20 years ago before there was a bootle bay lodge and only a house that belonged to a friend of mine. food is out standing the bar is great service is great very good people.
