If you fish on South Beach, you may need a bigger pole.

sorry, don't know of any sandy beaches off miami w/ fish. BUT, I can direct you to Black Point Marina in S. Miami (cutler bay/ cutler ridge). Really cool marina and if you walk the breakwater, you can fish either side (skinny flats north, the channel south). I've seen anglers pulling red fish, trout and snapper every day while heading out. black fin shark, as well. SNG

I was just at Black point this afternoon for a few hours pitching a chrome and blue rattle trap. I caught two snook. One 22", the other 27". There are some monster snook in that lagoon but they are lazy lately. Maybe the weather.... If you walk out the jetty like SNG suggested, there are snapper, trout and all the ladyfish you can shake a stick at. Its fun to catch the ladyfish, but they fray your line all to hell and they actually become annoying after a while. Today was the first time I threw my rattle trap there and it seemed to work ok. I usually like a Gulp shrimp twitched pretty quick. Park over where the trailer parking is and just work the bank or the lagoon there. If there is no security guard there to harass you, try dropping some cut bait over at the dam. I was there a week or so ago and there were some monster mangrove snapper all huddled up on the far side of the dam. Good luck!

So far caught nothing. But did see some snook and a bonefish. They just weren't interested. It is a little cold today. Any suggestion for shore fishing at night?
