Default Key Largo fishing trip advise

I will be trailering my '04 22' Wellcraft Sportsman w/ 225 4-stroke to Key Largo Next week. Primarily, I would like to fish for dolphin and grouper. Can anyone offer advise for a good local bait shop and some tips on rigging and location? Also, what are some other good fish local to that area? We will be staying near Pennicamp on the Bay side of the island.

i was*in that area last oct.be very careful.* lots of low shallow waters*. i was in a 19' seapro c.c. bay boat*and ran aground a couple times.luckly i never got stuck. i was on the bay side. once you got out to the channels it was ok . watch the color of the waters your in . brown* brown run aground !!you can get a good map at most bait stores but there is a kmart on your left as you come in to town. they have good maps.most bait stores are all the same .*some of the people are nice like the ones wanting to sale you something.* most just want you to go back where you came from . but at the places you stay they are nice they want you to come back. but lots of fun once you find your way around. good luck have fun .*

i don't have a lot of detailed advice for you, but have a couple of things that may help......
i fished for sails out of there last season(winter). the most popular spot out there is an area known as "the patch". the fishing boat is in fl.....big one in baltimore...and i am currently in houston. will be back in baltimore monday and can get you some coordinates if you want. it is a good dolphin spot during the winter, not sure if you have to move out, or if there may be better summer spots. if you are looking at a chart....find ocean reef yacht club...look for the cut in the reef out front...find the sea bouy right out of that cut....and the area is all the area north of this. as far as grouper, just look at your chart and find a good hole along the reef, or bottom fish in that same area. i'm sure that someone will chime in with better details for you, but if not this will give you something to work with. good luck!
