Default I need a surveyor in FL

Can anyone refer me to a reliable accredited marine surveyor in the St. Petersburg area? I am considering buying a 22' outboard. Any suggestions??

Try contacting David Pascoe at this link:

http://www.yachtsurvey.com/

I doubt if he works in St Pete, but I'm sure he can refer you to someone.

Good Luck with your purchase.

I will notmention names, but two years ago I hired a Jacksonville area surveyor with the unusual credentials. As with a surveyor two years earlier on the West Coast, he spend almost all his time on the fiberglass, engine, and wiring. He missed the obvious point that most fiberglass boats are fiberglass over wood boats. The West Coast fellow cost me $6000 and the Jackonville fellow cost me $11000. Whatever else your man checks for, stand over him like a hawk and be sure he checks out all the wooden parts even though this is a pain in the neck from his point of view. Rot is extremely expensive to cure (my present boat had termites as well!) and the time to find out about it is before you buy.

Thank you all for your suggestions and comments.
Since I originally thought of getting a used boat, I have changed my mind and decided to buy a new boat -- especially since I am new to boating and, as you could say, an easy touch for a bad boat. Also, I like new...
Unfortunately, I need to wait until next spring to get the boaty...oh well, patience is a virtue, I guess.
Happy boating.

For future reference anyway, try here: http://www.namsurveyors.org/

If they can't help...

I hear you on the patience...
