Creekside Charters with Capt. Richard Latham 912-571-6322. Great charter I have fished inshore with him out of St. Simons area. Not sure if he will fish your area or if you want to drive to St. Simons.

Thanks for the tip on Buddy Lee, I may try him next time I am down there. I'm an awful fisherman so need someone pretty patient. The Miss Judy folks are great.

Capt Eric, the "polish fly" from Georgia Salt Water Charters at 912-596-5436. Eric does an excellent job with the inshore fishery and he will teach you about the area as well.

We love Savannah. On our short list of places to settle down. We have the Hatteras worked on at Thunderbolt Marine, and spent 10 days there each of the falls of 07 and 08, plus some time in Spring of 08 on the way back north from FL. We look forward to getting back through there this fall. The boating options within 40 miles are almost unlimited, even with a slow boat. And we are addicted to lunch at Mrs. Wilke's downtown, making an exercise program a must. Good thing it is a great walking town. If you like fresh fish and fish stories, there is the greatness of Tubby's Tankhouse right there in Thunderbolt as well... and so on and so on...

I/m going to be in Savanah the week of March 7 with my wife. Any suggestions on where to stay and things to see/do. Fishing is not on the list so it needs to be things on land possibly old seaport?
Prefer middle of the road local hotel with charm as to a 5 star national one.

Thanks

Lotsa B&B's. Fort Pulaski. Bonaventure Cemetery (the Garden of Good and Evil). Drive through the lanes. Lock your car! Cars in the squares have the right of way.

Savannah has the nastiest meter maids in the world!

Yes, a B&B in the Historic District is a fun idea. We enjoy Bill's other suggestions too. There is also a nice Hampton Inn down by the riverfront. Don't eat breakfast one day, and go to Mrs. Wilkes' Dining Room for lunch. Unlimited portions of the best southern cooking you will ever have, plus you will make new friends while sharing a big table. Forget Paula Dean's place, by the way.

I think this is the prettiest city in the country, and I am a native San Franciscan.

depending on legth of stay I would do a quick look down river street and spend most of your quality sightseeing shopping time in the squares. MOre local flair instead of the tourist garbage. Marshall house is a great hotel and ther is also a new place called the Bohemian that is awesome. It overlooks the Savannah river and there is a rooftop bar where you can sit and watch the shipping traffic

The best view of Savannah is from Hutchinson Island, across the river. Remember, the oldest section is near the river, and gets progressively newer as you head south. Read the historical markers. Ironically, even though everyone knows Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin at Savannah, the only marker for that is in the parking lot of a convenience store at Highway 21 and I-95.
