Default Fort Lauderdale

Myself along with 6 or 7 other people from MA are going down to visit a friend who lives in Ft. Lauderdale and has a house right on the intercoastal on Bayview Dr in the beginning of Jan. I'll be running a 27 ft hydrasport CC with MA numbers on it (it was shipped to her FL house after the season concluded on Cape Cod). I ran this boat all summer in Nantucket sound, so I'm pretty comfortable with it. My question is:

What are the FL state and Ft. L city boating regulations that may not be consistent with those in New England, specifically MA?

I was a harbormaster for 3 years on cape cod but I have never ran a boat in FL. Any other advice my fellow THTer's that live in Ft. L can give me in my situation?

thanks guys

also feel free to email me kcm3686@hotmail.com

Just watch the manatee zones and speed limits on the ICW around Lauderdale. The regs change with the season and the day of the week in some instances.

The only difference down here is double the amount of a-holes on the water.

Broward ICW reg's are slow on weekends and 25 MPH on weekdays. Palm Beach County is now slow 7 days a week, unless otherwise noted. Pay attention and read the signs.

If you are off Bayview, you will be a ways from the inlets, but near alot of water front watering holes!

A good spot to anchor and go to the beach is at the Hillsboro Inlet, either on the South or North side, although latey the dredge has the north side blocked off.

Sorry to hear about your Pats losing to the our fins!! A good Boston bar to go to is near the Pier at the end of Commercial Blvd, called the Village Pump.
