Random Quote: Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
Describe your favorite vacation of all time.
I have two. When I was little my family would get together at my uncles estate in St Joe, MI. It was an 8 bedroom "farmhouse" and we'd go horseback riding, apple and peach picking and star gazing on the roof. I remember there was a chicken called Rambo that used to terrorize us because he'd chase us all around the farm lol. I milked my first cow when I was 10 years old too- pretty neat
The 2nd one was when I took a cruise to Mexico, one of the excursions I went on was to see some Mexican ruins and ATV'ing in the jungle! We came out completely muddy and covered in HUGE bug bites but it was soooo worth it
Took my wife to Italy for our 25th. We went for 10 days but I could have spent 10 days in each location we went to. Florence, Venice, Milan, Piza, Rome, and a few more. Saw the Sistine Chapel, the Last Supper, The Pope, Paris Hilton (she was shopping in Milan). We ate in restaurants older than our country. I got a whole new appreciation for other countries and that's when I started to realize the US is not the center of the universe.
I hope to take her back for our 50th. (I have 22 more years to save up).

My 2 best vacations were a charter boat in Tortola and Marathon, Florida. It wasn't practical to live on a sailboat in Tortola, so I ended up moving to Marathon after 5 years of vacations.
For me, I knew I was in a special palce when I didn't want to go back home when the vacation was over.
Marathon, FL. I go once or twice a year, have for the last six years. Going out on the water there is where I want to stay. Nice ppl, good, inexpensive food, beautiful water and weather. I never want to leave.
LJK, you lucky bum! LOL!!
If I could only find a good job there, I would be there inside two weeks for good!
I would call it a permanent vacation!
I went with the family from orlando to alaska in a private plane stopping many places on the way. Yellowstone, montana , yukon territory. In Alaska we chartered a float plane that flew us into the bush for some northern pike fishing. We pulled up to the dudes house bought a couple of lures from his garage. He then took us around back to his plane tied up in the river out back. We took off from there and flew off to the middle of nowhere to be dropped off where a little boat waited and proceded to catch the crap out of fish till he came back. That was back in the 80's
Cannot beat the Florida Keys for us but that is just us, fishing a lobster hunting has been out main vacation for years. Now days that is just a memory and two special vacations, come to mind, A transatlantic cruise, and a stay of a week on Linguri coast and Nice with train rides to many places. The latest was a Eastern Med cruise from Barcelona with a week in Barcelona(fun place) and trips to Girona , Tarragona and the Pyrenees, and the cruise was super too, Malta, Siscly, Athens, Rhodes Cypress, Egypt.
Maui - Went there for our honeymoon and did not want to leave. The highway to Hana was an incredible drive and the beaches, people and restaurants were unbelievable.
Italy/Paris - went this past year for our 2yr anniversary and it was incredible. Didn't think i would like Paris, but it was real cool. Sitting on a beach in Montoraso on the med in Italy drinking a beer looking a WWII German Pillbox was just one of those wow moments.
Favorite was definitely a trip to the south pacific. Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea, Raiatea and Huahine. Charter fishing on a Bertram 31 off Huahine , hooked and lost a nice Marlin. Snorkeling with manta rays and Morays off of Bora Bora, diving an incredible wall off Raiatea, the night life on Tahiti. Yes my favorite.......
Guana Island in the BVI was special also, a private island sanctuary off of Tortola. Limited to just 36 guests, all original stone cottages scattered along the islands ridge ,overlooking the beaches front and rear.
Bertram 28 ready to take you fishing, self serve bar on white bay beach and at the main house, incredible local cooking and the most beautiful hiking paths leading to one of the 7 secluded beaches around the island.......Special place
We took a great trip on the family boat to the Med...Cannes, Monte Carlo, Genoa, Portofino, Portovenere and then to Rome...The boat is usally on this side of the Atlantic, so much of our cruising has been in the Caribbean, but the boat was in the Med for a while and we had a great time. My sister and her family and mine...It was great!
Mardi Gras 2003...My best friend and I with 2 little hotties by our side, took amtrack there and back. A week and a half of literally nothing but sex and booze. I don't know how we survived that trip. Sorry can't post the pics.
OK, mine is not a cruise or trip to France, but one September, my wife & me rented a small beach house on Ft. Morgan, AL. It was the week before Labor day, whole area was desolate. Looking down the beach as far as I could see, I could see 3 people, 2 people the other way. Water was perfectly clear, seas were calm, water was still warm, weather was perfect, large blue crabs & sting rays eased along the surf. Went to the Oyster House & did not have to wait.
May sound boring to some of you guys, but solitude is priceless,
It was perfect.

took wife to Haiti for our honeymoon, got shaken down by guys carrying machine guns and on the flight home came down with the most virulent case of food poisoning...I guess i shouldn't have eaten at the buffet the last night. 32 years later she still tells the stories from this one....by the way it wasn't the best but the one she will never let me forget
Month of July, Toured Alaska on our own, stayed in B&B's in Anchorage and Fairbanks and at lodges on Afognak (off Kodiak) and at Denali West a fly-in lodge on the other side of Mt McKinley. Both lodges were 10 people max and at each we had own guide for a week.
Temps were in upper 80's to 90. Hard to get used to 23 hrs of daylight, you could read a book at 2 AM under the sun. Fished for salmon, grayling, halibut, rock cod, and salmon sharks. Canoe trips through overgrown wild areas.
