Default Who here goes to the Sand Bar (Pasco)

Hi all, I am new to the boards and was wondering how many of y'all go out to the Sand Bar just North of Anclote Key in Pasco Florida?

Oh, I know the hurricanes really messed it up and cut it in half in the one part, but Ive also been hearing that its starting to rebuild? Can anyone confirm that? I haven't been out there pretty much since right after the last of the hurricanes that year. My buddy owns a local bait shop and he was the one telling me about it starting to build back up, but haven't went out there myself.

Thanks

The north sandbar is just fine. It growing some vegetation these days, too. We usually go to the west side of the main island, though. There's more room to spread out. I'll be out there Saturday. Look for the American flag flying on a 23 robalo CC.

Thanks Jeff, that's good to hear about the sand bar North end, I noticed that was ok after the hurricanes, probably because of the vegetation that was their during the hurricanes, roots prob helped saved that part. Glad new vegetation is growing, good sign...

I would love to go out on the weekend but as mentioned I am boatless until I sell my Capri. That will happen soon I hope, when I want something I do not stop till I get it, so I will have a boat soon!!

Thanks for the update Jeff, Im sure one day we will meet and see you out there.

I have only been on that sandbar once and that was when I got stuck on it. LOL I had just moved up to pasco county with my first boat and didn't have a GPS installed yet. Was thinking the cut between the island and sandbar was farther away from the island than it was. That was a fun walk across pushing my boat. Anyways since then I either hit the NW side of the island by the cut, or head over off of three rooker.

The sand bar is in better shape now than it has been in years... Plenty of water to get up to it and the sand / water is beautiful. I was there last weekend and will be out tomorrow. I used to think that 3-rooker was much better but now I'd have to say they are about equal. 3-rooker is about 5 miles south (Palm Harbor area). Enjoy.
