I live on Lake Weir, although not as bad partying, still people throw, let the wind blow, or what ever stuff into the lake. I saw a neighbor, who had their boat out and a bag of trash blew out, she looked over at us and shrugged and never even tried to retrieve it. There needs to be some changes to the use of Silver Glen but how they would do it, will not please all the people, or how would we pay for it's enforcement. I do know, Rainbow river, and the residents will turn you in for a infraction of the rules in a heart beat. Good or bad, rules of the Rainbow river, seem to work and may, I hate to say it, but necessary to keep the sensitive areas in prime condition for future generations.

Agreed they should do something to help keep it clean but they are trying to Close it completely to boating mostly due to enviromental reasons and a few bad boaters.

They almost closed it in 2003 but a group got together and fought to keep it open.

I can only hope boaters will stick together and not let our government close another boating area.

There is a petition online if anyone would like to sign.

They need to do something. A good start would be to throw out all of the boats that stay there year round with no pump out facilities. Maybe a pottie barge and reduce overnighting to inspected and approved vessels.
