Looks like I will be in South Florida next week on business and I might have the opportunity (or requirement) to stay over in the Keys the weekend of 8/14. Since it is a short stay I am not going to bring my boat but I am thinking about bringing our inflatable with a small 4 hp motor. The boat is 10' with a high pressure floor so it is stable and is an OK fishing platform.
So I wonder is it worth the trouble or not to pack in the back of the SUV? Can anyone suggest an area that might be accessable by small boat that would be fun and present a good opportunity to catch something? Or am I better off just looking for a place to wade or fish from a bridge.
Where will you be staying while in the Keys? If you just want to boat and explore, the inflatable would be fine. If you're primarily after fishing, I would think the bridges would be your best bet, so you wouldn't need the boat.
How about just renting a boat for the day. Plenty of good rental places available.
Capt' Pips in Marathon usually has a deal on a room that includes a boat. Be nice to get out to he reef and do some yellowtailing.
