Although I don't normally push a specific organization or affiliation, I thought this was worth posting up since I have worked w/ this group and they have actually come through with what they promised to, stand up for the fisherman's "rights".
While working w/ the FRA (Fishing Rights Alliance), myself and a few others have generated enough interest in the past 1 1/2 yrs to get them involved in the South Atlantic. They are the outfit that has been filing lawsuits (and winning) in the Gulf of Mexico against the council down there. They have spent OVER 600K in the Gulf..... not a typo, all done on donations from fishermen, divers, etc.
I supplied a large portion of the tech data to interested parties w/ the FRA from the Exec Director to the PHD Bio's. They have picked up the ball and are running w/ it. Everything on my end has been for free as all the guys that are working on this along side the FRA organization...........
As you guys know, this stuff costs MONEY. If you can spare a few bucks, I am linking their website below along w/ the links to the suit filed............ YEP, THEY FILED SUIT..........
The Fishing Rights Alliance filed suit against the National Marine Fisheries Service in federal court in Jacksonville today, July 24th, 2009.
This is the only group I know of that is ACTIVELY doing something about this........
