Default Recommended transportation from Fort Lauderdale to Key West?

Do any of you locals have a recommendation on a cheap way to get from Fort Lauderdale airport on 7/21 flight arrives @ 8:30A to Key West.

And a return from Key West to Fort Lauderdale airport on 7/26 flight leaves at 8:00P.

I tried Greyhound and their fares are cheap but their shuttle times don't fit my schedule. There are other shuttles I've found online but its like $200 round trip. Do any of you locals know of shuttle services that may be less money? Any of you not working looking to make a few extra bucks?

Try Keys Shuttle, don't know the URL but you can google it. Runs fm Ft Lauderdale Apt and MIA throughout the Keys.

Jerry- Ha ha, I'm not getting the walleyes like I have the past several years. It's been a tough year down in the islands area. I think the cold water has kept the walleyes farther west in the shallow warmer water. And I do plan on taking you up on your trolling lesson!

Lazydog- I will likely book with Keys Shuttle unless I can find something cheaper.

Key West Express is in Fort Myers which is on the wrong coast. That would be cool to take a ferry to Key West.

I have someone that PM'ed me a coupon for $30 off on a shuttle. I don't think I'm going to find anything any cheaper than $155 round trip from Fort Lauderdale to Key West. I'm going to book it in the morning.

Not interested in a car rental? Would be helpful to have once you are down there unless you are staying downtown and not venturing to other parts of the island

I am meeting friends that will already be down in Key West. One of my friends owns a condo in Key West, they are going down Friday. Because of work I can't go until Tuesday. We are all going to be fishing in the Drambuie Key West Marlin Tournament Wednesday - Saturday.

Check out two one-way car rentals. Often they have good deals so that they can get certain vehicles into/out of the Keys. Had several $40 one-way trips doing this.

$200.00 is cheap. You figure. Drive you down, drive back. Drive down to pick you up, drive back...That's easy $175 in gas. It's a 3 hour drive one way. If you need more info on Ft. Lauderdale and who can provide this type of service you can visit my website at www.KarenMonsour.com for my contact info. I have a friend who drives Taxi that does some of this type of transportation on the side, however. I think $200.00 is a fair price. After all when it's all said and done. The driver is getting about $25.00 for their time and it's 12 hours...not even minimum wage.
