Default Clearwater to keys boating trip help!

Hi All,
I'm trying to put together a 2-3 week vacation trip from Clearwater area to the keys. I know it only takes a day or two to get down there, but I want to enjoy the entire trip and not just rush to my destination.
I'm a fairly new boater, and consider myself a fair weather sailor. I want to spend every 2 or thrid night at a Boatel, where I can moor the boat and sleep in a hotel room.
I would like to fish and cruise and sightsee all at the same time.
If anyone has any experiances they would care to share. Any neat places to stay in the area from Clearwater to the keys and also in the keys area.
Once we get to the Keys we plan on taking a few guided fishing trips both inshore and off.
Please help by sharing with me any of your advice or experiances.
My boat is a sea ray sundancer 34 '
Please help plan my ultimate vacation trip.
Thanks
Don

A good idea for your boatel concept would be to ovenight a night or two in the Naples municipal marina. There is an hotel/motel right next door, 2 or 3 restaurants close by and downtown Naples and an old waterfront area with shops, etc. within easy walking distance.

We've also enjoyed the marina at Tween Waters Inn and the Inn itself on Captiva Island.

Hi wooddon This be Jack (boat name) I replied under my original post. My thought if I had 2- 3weeks I would want to get to the keys and then go from Key to Key or even head up some of the east coast of south florida - maybe even hit the Bahamas if weather looked good. I am planinng to go to keys and bahamas next year and take 2 weeks or so. This year I am limited on time.

We have stayed in this place a couple of times. It is clean, has a pool and the location is perfect for fishing the Boca Grande area. Be careful you may never want to leave once you get there.

It might be a bit far to make it in one day so you may want to plan your first stop somewhere from Siesta Key to Naples. The ride on the Intracoastal is very nice with plenty of watering holes along the way.

When are you planning to make this trip?
