Been away from the THT board for a year but I'm back. Live in Daytona Beach half of the year and at our hotel overlooking some of the prettiest water you've ever seen in Las Galeras, Dominican Republic the other half (winter season).

Last winter I stayed at Harkers Island, but this year my nephew and I took several weeks to drive from Maine down the coast. I drove the RV with the boat attached, and he drove my truck. We caught our limit of slot stripers at the second tunnel on the lower Chesapeake, then we were skunked at Ocrakoke. (3 snapper blues and a sea robin) Had a few knock downs at one of the rocks East of the shoals at Pt. Lookout, but no kings. (Had fun trying) Trailer was repaired (again) at the Outer Banks Boat Harbor just past the bridge to Harkers Island. It's a great place to get service, but I bought a loser of a trailer last year in NJ. :-( I should have gotten a Magic Tilt at OBBH. We made it to a great spot just up from Key West in time for the finals of the Offshore Powerboat races. We were anchored at the west side of the race course near Sunset Key and the boats went by us at over a hundred on the way back out. So close to us it was scary. :-) My nephew caught us a couple hogfish that filled our bellys full one day, and I still have half a freezer full of striper fillets. Hope to have a warmer (sheesh, it's so warm here I need to sit in the truck with the AC on) winter. ;-) Oh yes, last Monday we took my Grady out the Northwest channel and headed west to the Dry Tortugas. It was rough with the north wind in the gulf but we came back South of the Marquesas inside the reef, and when one of the two cats came by, we fell in behind for a 26 kt. smooth ride most of the way home. Fort Jefferson is an amazing place, and I got to scratch a biggy of my "Bucket List". "Arrgh-B-Darrgh matey, set sail for the Dry Tortugas" :-)
So I plan on being in the Keys for this winter diving and fishing.
