Default Savannah in August

I just found out that I'll be in Savannah for some meetings Aug. 5-9 this year. Only about 2 of the days will be tied up with the actual meetings...the other days are for the golf types to go play...which I don't.

I was thinking it might be more fun for me to trailer my boat down (22' Blackjack Bayboat) and find a ramp close to our hotel and look to do some fishing. I would be mostly interested in some drum, trout, or other inshore stuff.

Anybody willing to give some advice/info on the area, ramps, tackle shops, marinas? The meetings and our room are at the Westin Savannah Harbor.

Thanks a bunch!

Lee

sure! Where are you staying? Tybee Island Bait & Tackle is great with a ramp close by. In Aug. Tarpon is on my mind! Just net some menhaden and anchor up in front of the beaches.

Staying at the Westin Savannah Harbor Resort.

Tarpon would be fun to get into! We target them as well during the same period along with the bull reds up on the Neuse River here locally.

Depending on what you want to do, for eating tons of places, Pink House, Vic's, Mrs Wilkes, etc, Huckapoo's if you go to Tybee for a day at the beach! Plenty of fishing to be found inshore, tourist stuff downtown, lots of history! Good luck welcome and enjoy yourself, the Westin is Saweet!

Be careful of the parking nazis in Savannah. I moved from downtown 20+ years ago because of parking hassles and crime. Just returned from 2 weeks downtown, and almost got into a fight with a meter maid nazi. Considering lawsuit over it.

If you think parking and crime was bad twenty years ago, then you had better not even go near it now.
