Default Offshore Jacksonville?

So next tuesday i may be driving from DEEP South Texas to Jacksonville to pick up a new boat for my uncle.
http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1978.../United-States
Its going to be our new personal Tarpon/Charter boat down here.

While we are in Jacksonville, id LOVE to do some fishing, if i can talk my uncle into going. Id love to find some Tarpon but if the weather is anything like here, there is nothing around.

So how is the fishing Jacksonville right now? What are the chances of catching anything near offshore? If we fish, itll only be half a day and dont want to travel any further south.

This will be my first trip to FL, so im really excited about going even if it is only for a short time.

Thanks for any advise.
Jeff

This is the local forum. I think it is a off time of year for close to shore. Water temp is low. Wahoo are hit and miss at the ledge. Deep bottom is active but you still got to run to get there.

If you want a great charter out of St Augustine. Endless Summer. I have taken a few business charters with these guys.

Ok, it sounds similar to the weather and water we have here. Being FL i thought it might be a little differnt. Guess we will just head home.
THanks for the Link.

H20 off of Jax nearshore is in the high 50s....Tarpon won't be back for some time. Snapper and grouper are biting 15-20 miles out...you will need to head 50 miles east (or more) to find warmer climes where there should be a Wahoo bite....good luck
