This topic has been discussed on the Carolinas board and my question is...What is the requirement in Florida and Georgia for a boat trailer in excess of 8'6"? N.C. requires an annual permit and possibly flags and limitations for a boat trailer up to 10'1" width. Appreciate any info.

Overwidth is federal. You have to get a permit for every state you travel through. The laws for overwidth DO NOT vary from state to state. You can buy trip permits for each state or annual permits for each state, your choice.

No problem. Seems like that's what I do a lot anyway!!! I think the issue has been well debated and discussed. You are right in that the Fed law is what it is. No changes there. It would be good if the states would classify boats the same as RV's, Motor Homes, etc. Oh well, that's a debate for another day. Right now I ain't gonna worry about it.
