On the plus side of the equation, if you run the backcountry on bad weather days - you've got no one else to contend with.... on the minus side there's no one else around if you get into trouble....

I have personally had enough of this wind. Seems every year around this time, it gets nasty. Is this what's called the lenten (sp?) winds? Also seems that just about every year (except 2 that I can recall) the seas are downright nasty for theair and sea show.
Its been the same up here in Stuart as well. I can't remeber not fishing in 3-6ft seas. I for one have had enough although I have really begun to appreciate the Pursuit 30 express she ain't fast but she sure is stable and dry... I am really looking forward to the next few weeks. If we get the right conditions look for us about 15 miles north of mantinella banks at day light with the tuna spread out

SATURDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT
EAST WINDS NEAR 20 KNOTS. SEAS BEYOND
THE REEF 5 TO 8 FEET...EXCEPT HIGHER IN THE GULF STREAM. SEAS INSIDE
THE REEF 2 TO 3 FEET. NEARSHORE WATERS ROUGH. ISOLATED SHOWERS.
How far out is "The Reef"????
I'll be at Capt. Pips in Marathon next week and am beginning to wonder how
much fishing I'll be able to do in these conditions. I've got charters
booked on a 29'er for a couple of days. What can I expect to be able to fish
for on this size boat under these conditions? At what point do they just cancel
due to adverse conditions, such as Small Craft Warnings?

Three to four miles. You can fish for anything as long as you can handle it. Every fish will be hard earned on 5 to 8 days. Good thing about it is, you won't have to fight for fishing spots.
It's been tough with the wind blowing 25 to 30 off shore and Back Country, some anglers that are regular to the area no what to expect when conditions happen like this and the newbies think we are out to rip them off. I know experienced a few recently even though they caught fish. It's hard to move to all the good areas you might want when you have that kind of wind.
we were down in the bahamas at the begining of april, we only had a 17fter, but on our last day, we finally got out, and got 4 mahi, so nice only going 1/2 mile out, compared to in newengland were we go 80-100 mile sout
-howling and yowling in the 'Glades now for about five weeks. I've been out in it most days and not having a particularly good time. Today I'll be fixing three or four things that I've broken on my skiff, then it's back on the water praying for some classic late April good weather.
