Drifter, you getting out of fishing or something? Those things sure are nice looking. THey would match my outrigger poles. How did you have them spooled and what was the usual species?

pooldoo73- Not getting out of fishing- Santa has promised a late delivery of some new larger reels.
The line was removed before sending these reels to Accurate for service, and have not been re-spooled since. The reels were originally purchased for live-baiting for king mackeral, and for light bluewater trolling, using 25-30# line. But I've fished almost exclusively bluewater. They have served just fine- catching dolphin, white marlin, wahoo, sailfish, etc- on those rare days when I actually got bit.
I think that Accurate claims 25# of max drag, but I've never tested them to find out for sure. I think many west-coasters spool these reels with braid for yellowfin tuna jigging and chunking.

Are they the short or long throw cams?

Lazy Bones- It is my understanding that all Accurate Boss 665 reels leaving the factory after November 2003 have the improved drag lever throw with a wider adjustment range. To make sure that I got the updated version in the spring of 2004, I bought through a non-stocking Accurate dealer that had to order these reels directly from the manufacturer.
Thanks for the interest.
