Default Wanted--- High speed buffer

I'm looking for a good quality high speed buffer. Not one of those random orbital 34.99 things from Walmart. I see plenty of the high speed buffers on ebay for cheap (around 40-50 bucks), but don't know if they'd work worth a crap. I'm looking for one just to clean up a boat I plan on buying. Really have no other use for it so I really don't want to spend $150+ on one.

Anyone have one laying around in your garage collecting dust that you want to part with?

Neckbone,
If you use a high speed buffer, it can burn the coating you are trying to polish and will grab very easily, i would use a variable speed buff. more easier to control. Also keep the cutting compound damp as you buff and you will get a better result.

Just a few tips for you to look out for.

Cheers
Colin

Lowes has a variable speed buffer with a 2 year warranty. It comes with a case, foam wax applicator, and buffing pad. The foam applicator and buff pad are not the best quality, but there is nothing wrong with the buffer itself.

The best part is the price (b/t $40-50). It even comes with a 60 day satisfaction guarantee.

I used it to wax my contender. I will buy different brand pads, but I really do not think you can go wrong. Try it. if you do not like it-just return it. Sears should have better quality pads or an auto supply store.

Good_Enough,

I will take that*buffer off your hands........in fact I will trade you that for a DVM......since I know you don't have one!! **

Or maybe a soldering iron for all your battery connections! ** jk

Seriously.......no use for it on the new*boat?

Andy

Andy,

my new boat deserves no less than Milwaukee or Makita.

Before you send me your DVM test it as follows:

buy a large grapefruit and two long plated nails, one zinc plated and one copper plated.
Stick them deep into the grapefruit not touching each other and using your DVM measure
voltage across the nails. Let me know your results and I will decide if your DVM is good
enough.

Good luck.
