 SOLD --Furuno FA-30 AIS Receiver
Almost new Furuno FA-30 dual channel AIS receiver. Price $500. Works with all NavNet and NavNet 3D systems through a network connection or with any AIS capable plotter or radar using NMEA 0183. Unit has optional ($150) antenna splitter that allows it to share an antenna with a VHF radio.
Installation is a snap with NavNet, just connect 12V power, plug in an antenna, and connect it to the network with an ethernet cable. With non-NavNet, almost as easy, just connect two pairs of wires to a NMEA 0183 port.
AIS is a fantastic safety device. Targets show on your plotter and radar with speed and course. Put the cursor over a target and you get much more information, including the closest you will come to it.
With antenna splitter, a new one would cost $950 from a discount shop such as BOE and is identical to this unit -- and over $1000 if you had the splitter installed professionally.
